Took the piss out of someone on one of the cycling Facebook pages, who said he kept getting pinholes in his tyres and wondered why. I posted "Pins", and got a few cheap laughs.

On the way home I got a nail in my tyre.

Karma's a bh!

When I worked in town (King's Lynn) the cycle lanes were a little overgrown and when I got a puncture I thought it was due to a thorn. Pulled over, took the wheel and tyre off, removed the tube, found the hole and fixed it. As I was running my fingers around the inside of the tyre looking for a the thorn a used hypodermic needle went through my skin. Six months of blood test and rubber'd up sex before I got the all clear. rolleyes

Yep. It's not just ignorant, inconsiderate or incompetent drivers that are out to kill you. Littler bugs to.

Take those stupid "ING-GER-LAND" flags that end up in grass verges and on the road side whenever England plays a soccer tournament for example.

I was messing about with some Lycraists a few years ago on my recumbent. Knights Hill on our way back from Hunstanton. Normally I'd use the Castle Rising cycle lane into North Wootton but I was marking time with the Lycra wearers and my rec' didn't fit through some of the style gates. Off the Knights Hill roundabout headed towards King's Lynn on the old A149 Lynn Road when one of those flags got caught in the turbulence from a truck, blew into the front wheel of one of the riders catapulting him into the path of a car coming the other way. Both legs crushed, multiple fractures and if he wasn't wearing a helmet he'd be dead.

So on a windy day like today keep them especially peeled guys and gals.

Looking forward to riding to work all day and just as I'm getting ready the rain stops and the wind drops. Typical.

Probably sensible.

My ride home scuppered by yet another mystery flat (front tyres have been spontaneously deflating on me recently after periods of the bike being parked up)

Bit of post tea mechanical sleuthing for me

KOM on a key segment on the way home, I already was KOM but a colleague had posted an equal time. Now put it a few more seconds out of reach, especially happy with the time as it was set without using my tri-bars due to wind related instability.

First time on the bike since The Autumn® kicked in. Strangely nervous.

It's amazing how much of a jessie I've turned into after a few months of nice weather.

A pleasent ride in this morning, still in short sleves and shorts. I was chilly initially but once warmed up I was fine. It won't be long before I need to buy something long to cover my legs and some long sleved jerserys. The only part of me that was a bit cold was my feet - time for some thicker socks and maybe some trainers that aren't mesh on top (old gym trainers).

As the Sun set the temperature dropped five or six degrees and wind picked up where it had left off.

Forty four minutes to get to work but...

Started a new job on Monday, cycled to work this morning, took about 30 mins, but very unfit at the moment.

New job means no grinding along the motorway like I have for the last decade.

No traffic jams. No 60p each way on the toll bridge. No 16mpg in the Jag, great views along the water front. Fitter.

Love it!

About 5 miles. Mostly along water front so flat. One big bridge to go over.

I put that strava thing on my phone, had a smart phone 2 years and never loaded and app before, didn't get it to work, will try again on the way home.
