The daily "I cycled to work" thread
Discussion
I'm mow seriously fed up with my commute. I chose my bike to allow me to go 'off road' and avoid traffic. In this instance 'off-road' means a compacted gravel path. There was no trouble doing 30kph along it if it happened to be dog walker free. That was until the council contractors ran heavy plant machinery through half of it several weeks ago. Now it's really really rough. In the last three weeks my cx bike had broken two spokes (both snapped at the nipple) and a puncture. I may just take the road bike and dice with traffic on the way home
Have been having my cycle commute interrupted a few times this winter, with today being the first in 2 weeks due to man flu, work from home and other errands needing me to drive.
Today was great however, fairly warm and little wind this morning, and very light traffic this evening. My time hasn't suffered really either which is nice.
Am looking forward to tomorrow riding again.
The road and paths I take are a little sticky though so my crud road racers are a bit noisy...

Today I racked up 2 full years of commuting without missing a single day
There have been days when the weather has caused me to seriously question my decisions, but on balance it's been pretty good. Saved myself NZ$2856 (around 1400 pounds) in bus fares, lost 20kg and saved countless hours standing around at bus stops. 7763km covered commuting out of 12300km total over the period.

Excellent!!! I however, lack your dedication and I wouldn't have come at all today if I'd had the choice, my feet are still frozen and I don't think I'd ever warm up.There have been days when the weather has caused me to seriously question my decisions, but on balance it's been pretty good. That's quite an achievement, even 6 months without getting a cough/cold/injury is good going, hats off to you.
