I have been doing 16 miles a day for a while now. May be buying a house with a 40 mile round trip, but will likely start of two days a week riding to get used to it. I don't think anymore than three days a week is likely. Also, I cycle in an old rugby top on a 18 year old Orange Clockwork with slicks and only 4 gears working properly!
Am I now into the realms of having to worry about nutrition and stuff? I like eating what I want but this may need some more thought??
No, don't worry about it. The only thing you need to make sure is that you eat enough. If you're doing that many miles you'll be burning a extra 1500 calories a day.Am I now into the realms of having to worry about nutrition and stuff? I like eating what I want but this may need some more thought??
Cycle was fairly normal, but as I was giving it full power down high holborn, I looked to my right and I saw Gok Won (D list celeb and fashion consultant). Naturally I said hello Gok Won! He waved back, but generally looked unimpressed
On a side note, I am enjoying being on the bike every day, but the Tern folder is becoming annoying. Its not stable enough when folded and the rear mech is rubbish.
Its my first used bike purchase and I'm not sire I am going to buy a complete used bole again. So far I have replaced the bb, had the gears indexed and had the rear hub serviced. Probabaly going to have new brake blocks fitted eventually.
No going to have it for long though

Maybe because you called him Gok Won - rather than Wan.
I am not chastising you in the slightest for not knowing - just a saultation of 'hey, woss'isname off the tele!' may explain a luke warm response....
Having a couple of days off. Legs knackered - both aching and producing sod all power. Headwind. Rain. General misery. I am not going to be one of those cycling hard men who says 'love it' at those conditions. It was misery. So sod it until its drier on Thursday.
Anyway - 1004 miles for the year now, and given a target of 4,000 I would call that ahead of schedule (technically)

I did actually pronounce it Wan To be honest, I have no sleep over his lack luster wave. It cheered up my commute I am not chastising you in the slightest for not knowing - just a saultation of 'hey, woss'isname off the tele!' may explain a luke warm response....

Made it in this morning only to realize I left my saddle bag at home. Hope I don't get a puncture or require anything to be fixed with a multi tool!
LOL I usually ride in the small ring on the flat!
Had a cracker Saturday, On about my 90th mile, in a 93 mile ride, just heading home, heavy rain for 50 of the miles. . Was filtering on the right past a long traffic queue, with my mate a few metres in front, when a van decides to do a U-Turn as I am along side it!!! Not only that he was next to a giant sign that said "NO U-TURNS THEY CAUSE ACCIDENTS 21 IN THE LAST TWO YEARS" Thankfully saw it a split second before so managed to shoulder barge the side and brush up against it! Only injury was my hand when I punched the window!
He did apologise , but it was poor driving, if I was a motorbike or going quicker it could have been messy . Still gave me an adrenaline rush to do the last 2 miles home!
Ride safe chaps!

I love how many people crumble the second they turn into the wind. I was following one guy this morning, we turned left into the wind, he immediately dropped into the granny ring and changed up the cassette.

Just built an alltea secure cycle vault so have now moved all the bikes back. Quick blast on the Scott today getting it back from my dad's, really missed the lovely quick feeling the road bike gives you. Unfortunately all Lardy again after my off and reduced riding, but hoping to get into it more over the summer. The torn tendon in my shoulder is not causing as many issues as expected on the drop handlebars, so that's a good sign!
Last night I was all set for biking in today after riding and running in the mountains (and actually using bottom and top gears) at the weekend....
....I then remembered that I was off work today to look after my early-rising children!
Ps dropping out of the big ring for wind? What's that all about?
