Did you get a replacement bike S10 after your cracked frame?
No, not yet. Still trying to decide what to do.

First pitch black commute home yesterday, down an old railway track, backroads , then B roads. Was ok, lights seemed good. Cars gave me more space on the main roads!! Is bloody boring though, plus I have to ease off the speed lots to be safe

110kms over last 2 days on the road bike, so thought I'd ride the trail into work tomorrow.

As soon as I pulled the bike from under the stairs, heavens opened for an hour long tropical storm, trails going to be muddy and horrible ..... Decisions decisions.

Weather will be about 28-30 degrees though smile

(Being smug now won't serve me well once I live in the Netherlands in 6wks frown )

I had to have a couple of quick detours onto the pavement tonight through Cheetham Hill, and hated myself for it. Alternative was get squashed or stop in a really vulnerable position. Was travelling at snails pace, just enough to get around the usual van blocking half the road. Otherwise a good ride but after a 9 week absence my legs feel weak and rubbery. I'll see how it feels in a couple of weeks, strength should start to be noticeable then.

Had a brass band and poppy sellers at Liverpool St. this morning, and as a special treat for the (bloody) cyclists, reflective poppies:

Which I think is a nice touch and well worth a pocketful of change.

Horrible headwind on the way in this morning! Only averaged 15.1mph. Didn't work hard but usually when it's not very windy putting in similar effort I'm around 16.5+

Bit damp but not horrendous!

I could handle the rain, but the wind and the weight of my heavy rucksack , plus 5 days of riding in my legs and no gears : OUCH

Wasnt even hard work, I just couldn't turn the pedals (single gear) , the rucksack dragging me back!

As soon as i got on the flat gravel bit so I could spin up, the bloody heavens opened

still wasnt too bad!

Got 2 miles from home, broke a spoke. Uber home, then train to work. Fail.

Nightmare.

I had a pretty good ride in, felt fresh for a change! I think all my newfound commuting is starting to have a positive effect! It did help it was a nice, crisp morning. Enough for the longer leggings and arm warmers but should be OK without the warmers on the way home if the weather holds out.

Biked in with the clubs man train to work, 5 up, Starbucks on way in. 20 miles.

Cheating on way back, meeting missus at leisure centre for a swim, so only 15 miles.

Was going to long run tommorow, bike Saturday morning, but gonna switch it round I think.

Wet and windy, but surprisingly satisfying, on the way in this morning.

Walking through the office after a bad weather commute gives a sense of pride -and possibly smugness too wink

Ps. Last night's commute less good. Fixed a puncture and must not have seated the tyre properly. The Kevlar bead started working free and got worn away by the brake pad. Luckily no blowout.

Result = trashed tyre
