Other way round for me. Body not awake, sugar levels low, generally lethargic in morning. Avg'd over 20mph in the other day through London and was really having to push it. On way home felt far easier to generate a higher power than the way in thanks to being awake And having food in me!

And watch out for ice. I got off and walked a stretch today as there was sheet ice across the road.

Pitch black when I left but going over the top of portsdown hill this morning with clear blue skies and the sun rising was absolutely wonderful!
That's a good climb in the morning. I used to drive up the single track past the Nelson monument in the morning and occasionally see cyclists plodding their way up, looked like hard work on a morning commute biggrin

Rained all the way to work this morning, looks like it'll rain all the way home too.
I actually quite enjoy it to be honest, I quite like hills!

Whilst not the same kind of ather-lete, I usually feel the same. I like the morning ride, but I do need to reduce my expectations, and it is normal to be a bit slower.

Doing wheelspins while climbing the hill to Wycombe train station on the Brompton this morning.

Had to drop to a lower gear and sit back down, rather than try and do it stood up.

Still in shorts though - despite the +1.5 degree temp.

This morning was a complete no go for cycles. 1" of solid ice on the estate roads and patches of it on the main roads. It would have been madness on a bike.

Icey this morning, not too bad, but took it very easy as my commute is all country roads

Well I may live in the South East, but I'm from Northumberland.

1.5 degrees is like summer to me.

Good man. I wear shorts all the year round. My legs are always pumping away and simply don't get cold.

Plus I'm from east coast of Scotland. When I was a kid I'd be on the beach in in temperatures like this. In July.

Going to be ruddy cold tomorrow, forecast set for a -3 degrees overnight low.

Someone still in shorts..... Screw that! I'm in full winter leggings in the mornings (mine had windproof front panels around the thighs, knees and shins and a fleecy lining! Though this afternoon cycling back from work was without the windproof leggings!

Tomorrow morning (leave at around 0620 for a 20 mile commute, around 1/3 without Street lighting) it'll be winter leggings, overshoes, windproof skull cap, very good gloves, long sleeve winter jersey (again, with fleece lining and windproof front panels) and probably even my ultrathin Gore bike wear jacket.

I always feel the cold..... But then my bmi is around 18!

-2 here in London which is very unusual so dug out all the winter gear I could find last night.

I've gone for Sealskinz socks + over shoes to keep my feet warm.

Bast layer + long sleeved shirt + Aldi jacket (instead of Gore Shell).

Skull cap under helmet.

The thicker of my two pairs of gloves.

And I've gone for some thicker boxers under my shorts.

Prediction; my hands will be freezing,

You can wrap up warm but are you not worried about coming off on the ice? Unless all your routes are gritted of course.

Coldest ride of the season so far this morning and perilous on the side roads and tracks I use. Slowest ride also, talk about ginger! Was actually glad to get on the gritted main roads. Toes have nearly recovered.

-4!! Back lanes looked really icey but didnt seem to slippery, I was taking it very carefully!!

Lovely ride to work , winter road bike is finally coming into its own as it suits proper winter weather, almost sold it in December , as due to the Mildness I forgot how slippery winter can get!

Everyone at work whingeing about the ice on their car/iced doors shut and the cold....

Yup, I had a -6 low cycling into Cosham from Eastleigh this morning. Very cold! Got my clothing spot on though except my feet were a bit cold and my nose!

Oh..... My camelbak podium nozzle froze over so I had no drink for the last 7 miles hehe
