They are not shared on embankment though they are cyclists only. You just get people on their commute walking into them without any care in the world. Most people on the lanes Are going 25/30kph and you hit someone going that speed it will hurt both.

drove into work today with the bike in the car and cycled home.....got a bit wet, but not soaked which was nice (well, not 25 degrees and clear blue skies nice....but you know what I mean).

The car being at work, the forecast set to be heavy rain tomorrow morning may not be quite so pleasant.

The cloud cover means it won't be cold though, about 16-17 so I suspect it'll just be shorts and a SS jersey, perhaps some arm warmers.

Lucky again.... Sort of. Drizzled most of the way in but certainly no heavy rain, though I did get pretty soaked. Another 21 miles in the legs.

Whey protein drink then some porridge with strawberry jam.... Lovely jubbly. Still hungry, mind hehe

Moist this morning. Almost lost the front on a manhole cover which was fun but made the car behind back right off!

Soaked on the way in. High cloud and bits of blue at home, then a mile in it started and just got heavier. Hope like hell my shoes are dry for the ride home, and that the horrible stuff outside my window stops like the forecast says it will.

On the plus side, 1,700 miles year to date.

After setting a new PB at a local 10 mile TT last night (24:32 so still not bothering the top 10), I decided to leave the Tri-bars on my road bike this morning and see how quickly I could get to work. The answer was bloody quick, averaging over 22mph. My usual average in is around 20 mph. I probably looked a tit though biggrin At least I opted not to don my skin suit and Velotoze!

Special K and 2 cups of tea.

Three days last week and the week before.

Two days so far this week, I still can't get fit enough to do everyday.

Good time that thumbup

I have the Tri bars off at the moment, but find it much more comfortable to ride longer distances on the drops than I ever could. I suppose a degree of flexibility must have come from using them...

Drizzle yesterday morning, last night the pothole that took me out a couple of weeks ago had one of the tap covers damaged. As it was Tuesday the cycling club were out doing time trials. I stopped and called 101 to report it. My thoughts were if a cyclist, lycraist, moped or bike hit it they'd be off, if a car hit it smashed alloy or blown tyre just before a bend.

I was on hold for eight minutes, got bored and went to the next village so I could borrow a couple of Police cones from the station. Luckily there was someone there and the duty officer took my report and said he would get in touch with the council.

This morning, dark enough for lights when I left, bright enough for sunglasses when I arrived; but the potholes were all filled in. smile

Don't take this the wrong way Liquid Knight, but do you actually do anything except moan? Do you ever, you know, enjoy cycling?

Hit a kerb wrong.
Sidewall of back tyre fairly shredded.
Punctured.
Blister on thumb from bloody Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres being a nightmare to get back on.
Fingers crossed for no puncture on the way home as I don't have another spare with me...

Sorry to hear of your woes, I just bought a set of MTB ones of those for my winter commuter, hopefully they're good otherwise?

Singing the praises of the Norfolk Police and doing a good deed but you see the negative side of it?

scratchchin

Today was great, nice head wind to push this morning and a rain shower before I left to pull the temperature down a few degrees. Almost perfect.

Sun was shining, birds were singing and the world was a pleasant place to be. The only thing missing was a unicorn to fart a few rainbows across the sky.

Three and a half days this week, half way yesterday as had to drop a car off at garage for mending.

This morning I cycled up the big bridge in 3rd gear, I was flying along!

Reckon I might try and go for a full 5 day week on the bike next week.

First ride in my new PH Jersey this morning, looking forward to taking the long was home, as I won't get another ride in this week.

Yes - survived really quite well over the last three thousand commuting miles. I'm currently balancing the lack of punctures with the significant time required when I do get one and wondering if a cheaper (but more frequently dinged) option would be good...

Shredded sidewall means new tyre time, and the front has done nearly 5,000 miles so may just change it on general principle at the same time.

On the way home on Thursday I was beeped by a car driver. Why was I beeped? Because I had moved out to get round a sharp unsighted corner with railings on the side of the pavement.

Apparently I should not move out to stop cars coming round, like him. I stopped and asked if he wanted to chat but he kept his windows closed and drove off.

I don't do this because I want to annoy drivers, this is the only part of my 7 mile each way journey that I do this because in 5 years cycling to and from work, it is the only place that actually scares me.

Ah well, only 3 more days then I go on holiday!

Friday evening was the usual gauntlet. Nothing unexpected so not worth moaning about so you can moan about that. wink

From a purely observational stand point the two worst times to commute are Friday night and Monday morning. Funny that eh?

This morning was serene. Cold chill in the air, sun shine that was overcast just as the heat started to take hold. One of those mornings that makes all the other crap worth it.

As a bonus I scared the crap out of the girl in the paper shop. She didn't like my Mushroom Clown t'shirt. hehe
