Driven all around California in a crappy Dodge Charger and spent the savings on renting a decent bike instead (Cervélo R3). Found a beautiful pad right next door to Levi Leipheimer, which makes sense as the place is up in the hills with a sod of a climb to get back home after every ride.
I now have my eyes on a segment with Levi and some of his mates at the top that I think might just be within reach.

Out for a very brief cycle last night and decided to meander past here to check out the WW1 memorial.
As a reminder of a time of great sacrifice, that memorial 'planting' has a massive impact. 888,246 ceramic poppies, one for each British casualty during hostilities in WWI. It's far more powerful, in my view, than any number of cold, lifeless monuments carved out of stone. Seeing it for oneself, on site, should be on everyone's list of 'things to do in London' this year. Each of the poppies is being sold to raise money for Forces charities... https://poppies.hrp.org.uk/buy-a-poppy/

Goring Gap?
Did the Bostall Hill and came back on the Coombes Road about an hour ago, didn't stop for a pic though.
Yes indeed, goring gap. I did 38 miles today in 2:20. Road bikes are so much nicer than hybrids Did the Bostall Hill and came back on the Coombes Road about an hour ago, didn't stop for a pic though.
Final ride in California. This panorama was snapped at Duncan's Bay on Pacific Coast Highway. I didn't manage to KOM the segment I was aiming for but I'm only 10 seconds behind Laurens Ten Dam (who was definitely riding at threshold, definitely) after 26 minutes of climbing - happy enough with that.

First run out on my new road bike. Did my usual loop to Chester and back. Bonked on the way home as I didn't take any food with me. Also need a bigger capacity bottle!
I was also hit with the SPD curse, fortunately I fell onto some grass with no damage to the bike......only my ego!
I bet the passing car had a good laugh!

36 Miles and 4000ft of climbing, not so much as a top 10 on any segment but my missus has a cabinet full of QOM's.
Haha - love it when that happens! I bumped into a girl who occasionally rides with my group a few weeks ago when she was on a 'recovery ride', she tucked in behind me and followed me the 7 or so miles back to my village and picked up a dozen or so top 10's and 3 or 4 QOM's! I didn't even get a pb.....!MadDad said:

Been out a few times this week prior to going back to work tomorrow.
Went out for a mixed 25 miler near my new place today - canal path, cycle trails, roads and a massive sandy hill in Woburn Woods!
