40 miles off road on the Cross Bike, Wyle Valley and across the impact area on Salisbury Plain, feel so lucky to live where we do.
looks lovely, any chance of a route/gpx/strava thingy? Family live in Wylye and have always fancied a bit of riding down there
You would not be able to do the northern loop across the impact area as it is closed most of the year but plenty of other stuff you can do on the Plain and masses of Byways to play on:

Well after last nights chaingang and on the way home I heard a loud Bang, looked down and there were 4 spokes gone. 2 on the drive side had pulled the nipple through the rim which is now shagged.

Will call Malcolm at The Cycle Clinic today, he supplied the wheels but I had the rear rebuilt after a spoke breakage (another issue) last year. The V1 version of this rim suffered this problem and the V2 had a strengthened spoke bed (although I understand this has happened to some V2 rims in 28H).

Managed 5 miles home on as it remained true on the remaining 24 spokes, lucky in some sense.

I went for a ride in the Cotswolds today, it is a bit different to my usual trails around Coventry:

The weather was changeable, occasionally beautiful, but got caught in hail and sleet too:

After the crash back in September my best bike is finally back in action.
I stripped it down and sent the frame off for a repair to the carbon downtube
When it came back I built it back up again with a new bottom bracket, cables and outers.
The shimano R500 front wheel was badly buckled so I built a wheel building stand in MDF to the Roger Musson design and put a new H Plus Son - Archetype rim on, happily the existing nipples, spokes and hub work out just fine.
Also had new bars and bar tape as the old ones got bent in the crash.

Stripping the bike right down and building it back again plus building the wheel has been a great learning experience and I've picked up a few new tools along the way.

I might do something about the black carbon patch on the frame in time, I wanted to check the bike came together ok first as otherwise I might have bought a new frame.

Do I need to buy another archetype rim for the back or is mismatching OK?

I'm challenging myself with the hardest climb around, aptly named "Am I f@cking mad". My goal is just to ride up without stopping.

I was soaked by the picture was taken and still on my way to Cissbury Ring. Shortly before at 8:15 and light was fading I got a puncture frown I've now learnt my tyre changing tools and pump are ste of the stest order!

Regardless a brilliant evening ride and all a good learning curve yes

I think I was a couple of hours ahead of you! I left work about 5.15 and it was spitting, but I was heading east and just about stayed ahead of it.

I am. I'm thinking you're talking about the climb from the car park on the A24 to the ring? I confess I can't do that in one go, it's a proper bugger.

The rain was light but persistent albeit by the time I got my puncture it had stopped, so it could have been worse yes

I went down the back of Chanctonbury Ring towards Wiston in the dark with a tiny light and my eyes wide open - some of those tree stumps at speed yikes

Bike has been washed and a new pump purchased this morning and on the bike (big thanks to the two guys who helped us at about 8:30pm last night with their pump!)

Unfortunately I'm looking after the little ones this weekend whilst Mrs HoHoHo is on the piss with her mates so the best I'll get is a long run on the South Downs Link (which is still a good afternoon if the weather is OK)

I know the one you mean, and it is tough at the top, what with the surface and gradient. However, the one I am talking about is this one -

Hard as!

Well it seems the better weather has brought my local Trail Pixies out of hibernation as some rather nice jumps have unexpectedly popped up in my local woods:

However, judging by the broken helmet peak, and massive 'case' mark on the front of the landing ramp, someone has made a real mess of them already......

OUCH!!

If that was me I would have to have another Archetype on the back. They build into much better wheels than the R500's anyway. Building a front wheel is much easier than building the rear though.......
