I dragged my very unfit legs up the Sattelegg pass with a group yesterday, felt good until half way, felt OK until 80% of the way up and then everything cramped up and I could barely move. It didn't get any better on the flats so I think it's a sign I have a lot more training to get in before the Etape, and that I need to use energy drinks rather than just water and gels.
Great views on the way up though

First longish ride out on the Canyon today.
Did the Vrynwy Velo, from Welshpool upto Bala and back via Vrynwy.
The loop took in the Bwlch y Groes, the highest tarmac pass in Wales at 1800 ft.
72 miles and 5800 ft of ascent in all, which is quite a bit, given I'm no lightweight.....
First time I've had a mountainous route on Relive, the mountain passes add a certain "Je ne sais quoi" to the graphicsDid the Vrynwy Velo, from Welshpool upto Bala and back via Vrynwy.

Up on the downs late afternoon and the weather was bloody brilliant after a few heavy downpours early pm.
However on my way down from Chanctonbury Ring towards Wiston through the forest I came a right cropper, became a passenger and have landed heavily on my right side and I'm not sure what hurting more, my right upper leg or my pride

We didn't pass one another did we? I was dicking about with my chain by the south side of Cissbury & a helpful rider asked if I was ok.
Although I try to be helpful when I pass a rider in need that wasn't me I'm afraid.I think I past four walkers and no riders this afternoon which was unusual however the weather was pretty st earlier.
My tumble was about 20 seconds after two walkers walking down in the forest said hello and how nice the afternoon was. I then gracefully flew through the air with the greatest of ease landing rather uncomfortably and trying desperately not to look hurt and as if it's all part of the experience
I wasn't even riding fast and trying to be careful so I'm really pissed off
Oh, and I've got to work tomorrow and could now do without it!

Ouch, I'm glad you're (more or less) ok. If it's any consolation, I burned Sally Gunnell on a charity ride a fortnight ago, gave her a mouthful of mockery in doing so, then crashed in front of her, 30 seconds later. Karma is a bh & I've still got no feeling in a bit of my right thigh!
I asked because I noticed the same thing, hardly anyone out on the downs full stop today & that was the one rider I bumped into. Worked out ok, I got home as the first drops were falling, timed it well for once.

I played cards with her at a Casino night at Windlesham School some years ago and taught her how to play Black Jack, she was very pleasant and nothing like the ugly runner some golfers liken her too I asked because I noticed the same thing, hardly anyone out on the downs full stop today & that was the one rider I bumped into. By chance a friend of my Mrs. used to be her nanny.......it's a small world

Yeah, this was a St Barnabas ride from WIndlesham school. I went past her bellowing "AND HE'S ONLY DONE SALLY GUNNELL UP THE OUTSIDE" then binned it. To be fair, she did slow down as she went past, laughing.
'HE'S ONLY DONE SALLY GUNNELL UP THE OUTSIDE'Brilliant..........however
She had the last laugh
I rode to Warwick food festival for a burger.
