How do you find Queen Elizabeth country park and any tips advice for a first visitor? Everytime I go past it on the A3 I keep telling myself I need to visit
This was the 1st time I actually used the proper trail so not the right person to ask! I am sure someone who has been before will come along. From a first timers point of view on the blue trail........
A bit over 500ft of climbing but nothing too steep and well surfaced. I had read that its recently ish been resurfaced or repaired etc and it did look well kept.
Nothing surprising on the blue trail either and i felt happy to ride it having never seen it before.
The blue trail does not seem to go all the way to the top, but you can change onto other trails if you wanted.
Well worth the time to visit imo. Just a shame i only had time for 1 run.
They do a trail map at the shop which i found a bit hard to work out where i was but a combination of that and the garmin and it was all good.

Me too! It's always been that little bit too far to lob the bike into the car for a trip down. But if it was really worth the effort I might bother my butt one day and make that effort to visit.
I've been to the country park before, but a long time ago for a walk with the wife and kids. It wasn't worth the long trek to get there for that purpose when we've got plenty of variety closer, and I fear it'll be the same for the MTB trails to be honest...

How did you find the route and was it as much fun as it looked?
It was my first time doing a ride like this (off-road), but it was great fun. There were a couple of really soggy uphills in the forest sections that were particularly brutal, legs and lungs on fire. Overall it was a great day and will be signing up to do it next year!
If it was raining it would of been horrible, but it wasn't thankfully!
Beer at the end by the sea made it all worth while!

How was the crosser up Truleigh Hill? And the soggy uphills in the forest, is that around Guildford/Dorking?Overall it was a great day and will be signing up to do it next year!

Yup around Guildford/Dorking, just after the 30mile rest stop. Got through it, I only had intermediary tyres, so it wasn't easy by any stretch!Truleigh Hill was tough, doubt I would of made it, but my momentum was killed by a lady who stopped in front of me and managed to block the path (body on one side, bike on the other!). So that was the only bit I walked.

That bit in the woods after the Shere rest stop is deceptively horrible! Still, managed to rid it all non stop unlike last year where I made several stops!Truleigh Hill was tough, doubt I would of made it, but my momentum was killed by a lady who stopped in front of me and managed to block the path (body on one side, bike on the other!). I always had a bucket more fun at Tunnel Hill

The Blue trial is ok, Much of the Red I found just annoying and not really the place for a high saddled HT 29er. If you are passing it's worth dripping in but not worth a special trip IMO, and not if it's been wet, the chalk is bloody lethal!

Cheers! I'll stick to local then. I've still got so much of Tunnel Hill and Deepcut to find and learn, and I can easily ride there from home. There are heaps of single-track sections in there, but I either stay too local (Minley/Long Valley) or I get to Tunnel Hill, etc, and just ride bits I already know and make excuses for it because "I don't have time to explore and need to get 'x' amount of miles ridden today". I always had a bucket more fun at Tunnel Hill
I need to have a relaxed period where I explore a few of the local venues at a more leisurely pace really. I also owe myself that trip to the Surrey Hills trails around Peaslake.
