I managed it, 22 miles along the river/canal paths and local trails:

thumbup looks good, miss that sort of scenery. Love seeing people’s pics here of their rides over moors too - Australia doesn’t do Dartmoor!

Took my new Slate out for it’s first ride today. Bit of a slop fest now the cold has gone but fun nevertheless

Oh, Slate! I have just picked the same bike up. Not had a chance to go out on it yet. How are you finding it? Are you going to leave it standard or make any changes to it?

I’ve already put a 11-32 cassette and matching long cage mech on it to make the gearing more off road friendly. I may go 1x at some point, with a MTB rear mech and wide range cassette. I think a company called Wolf do a converter to alter the cable pull so a MTB mech will work with the STIs. More aggressive tyres are on the menu too.

I’m really enjoying riding it, feels like an old school 90s MTB off road. It doesn’t feel too slow on the road either, by no means best bike fast, but you don’t feel held back by it.

I have used an 11-40 cassette with a medium/long cage 105 mech and it works a treat. I used a wolf tooth road link, easy to fit and remove, ie 2 screws, and not expensive. The big appeal for me was being easy to revert back to standard.

That’s good to know I could do it with out forking out on a new mech.

First through the trail this morning so had the glory of clearing the overnight cobwebs...

Then spotted a slow taxi and a giant duck...

This gorgeous thing was in amongst the cows as I headed up the Concrete Road this morning. The cows started bellowing and I looked over my shoulder to see the farmer in his Landie heading uphill too. One or the other spooked the deer so she headed off

Christmas Eve ride out with my FB cycling buddies.

Discovered this weir in a place I’ve ridden past at least 100 times, not sure how I’ve not noticed it before.

If you look closely, there’s a heron stalking the bankside for some lunch...

Quick Boxing Day spin out to try my new Perfetto jacket out....suitably cold, but clear day for it....nice and toasty, despite just a short sleeve base layer underneath....impressed!

100km ride round Bobbin Head and McCarrs Creek this morning. I know I post a lot of beach and sunrise pics, but if anyone is over here and wants a decent road ride, Ku Ring Gai National Park is stunning...

Though not sure Santa Skippy will be here...

Pushing on with my personal challenge of 10,000 m of climbing for the month, but with 2,200 m and 5 days to go I wanted to get a chunk out of the way today. The Concrete Killers segment is 102m so, just 22 repeats will see me there
Managed 10 climbs today, not many people around to hear me chatting to the cows

This cutie seems at home among the bovines

Lunchtime rides when working between Christmas and New Year - such a hardship

For those without Superman sight - Jodrell Bank in the far distance above the saddle.

Sodbury Cycle Sport members looking very festive! Good to know there's a least one PH'er around here also into their cycling.

Four in the snow by Lewis Craik, on Flickr

First ride back after 6 weeks off with a knee injury - so snowy/icy trails weren't ideal...

My knee held up, it isn't 100% fixed, but should be OK for putting in some base miles. It was so good to get back out though.
