Been out on the Slate today. Nice in the sun between the showers but absolutely brutal if caught out in one in an exposed area.

Testing out a new prototype aero rim.

A good amount of snow to plough through, nice!

I was working from home yesterday so got bored in the late afternoon and bimbled down to Cannon Hill park in the -6c weather. It was actually pleasant, quiet and fun. I only did 11km, but it was worth it.

From yesterday, -6 but apart from the fierce cold, perfect conditions.

Was surprised at least one car had been up here but I needed their tyre tracks for traction.

Up on the South Downs Way, snow was deep enough for effect, but not so deep it affected the ride.

Proud of this one!

Chanctonbury Ring

Birds, deer and rabbits I guess.

Looking north
Coming home was pretty special too, despite the icy icy headwind

Fair play matey!

-10 when I was on my to Southlands Hospital for a minor op.

Not sure if I could have gone out even if I was 100% fit, far too cold!

When I got to work, there was a bunch of smokers outside. They're all a bit overweight, all look a bit ill...one of them shouted out "You pyscho" as I walked up in my cycling gear. It felt great to say "Morning, sofites" as I walked past them!

Today was a bit wild getting to work. A lot of compacted snow on the roads and a lot of drifty soft snow on the canal path, with large parts of the canal frozen over. The way home was worse, with extra wind and snow. Not an experience I want every day.

Well, I had to really didn't I... Never ridden in the snow before. Surprisingly easy when it's quite deep and fresh.

Felt like I was riding through an episode of Fargo today.

Still some nice drifts for only 70m above sea level.

Amazing drift! Brave on a road bike.

I wandered out again yesterday, it was quiet, crispy and a lot of fun in the snow:

Then I went out again today and the world has turned into a brown and grey slushy mess, which was treacherous under-wheel and soaking.

I disagree......

I went road rather than on the Downs and MTB and 18 miles ok the road as and end to the weekend went really well.

Little wind and with my new show/foot protectors I was as warm as a warm thing yes

This wasn't pleasant to ride through in The New Forest, gave up and stuck to the roads in the end

Some pretty effects with the mist rising through Bolderwood though
