Friday morning spin before work to collect the car - damp, grey and raining, but still more fun than the bus

Proper Scottish mtb conditions the other day in the Tweed valley. Haven’t been that muddy in a long time. Still fun though!
Inspiring jealousy there! Looks beautiful.

Started off thinking I’d go on a long road ride, but turned off the road for some fun instead...

...before brake woes cut the ride short, so went for a cruise along the beach just watching...

About to go down a short but horrible hill near home, en route to trying to beat my PB up it. Was nearly dead at this point on the way back up and still only managed to equal my best. My theory was that normally I go straight up it from home, so getting warmed up first might make it easier. I blame the wind...

It’s grim up north.

1 degree and foggy. Made all the more enjoyable by a puncture.... you have to suffer to enjoy it.

55 miles around a chilly, but sunny Cheshire...

This was on the run into Chester. I had to stop and get a photo. The Roodee racecourse blanketed in mist against a mottled sky.

This was the final climb back up to my village, fantastic Autumn colours...

How many miles do you do a year, you seem to get around a lot.

Usually over 15000 miles a year, in the last 2 years, it was 21500, and 20800 respectively. This year it looks like it’s going to be just over 18000 miles.

It doesn’t take too many of these.

and these.

to get to that sort of mileage smile

Slightly indulgent - my apologies; Not todays ride, but finally got the pics together from an outing in Cali a couple of weeks ago;

Heading through the night

Ice Scarf and contemplation

A final hour at 20mph in 35 degree heat left me feeling...jaded...

All for a trinket. 550km in 24hrs.

Lots of lessons learned, and a plan shaping for next year targeting 700km.

I'm just going to say also - the winner - Christophe Strasser (multi RAAM winner as well) - completed an additional FOUR HUNDRED KM. I just can't even.

This is a genius idea, a bunch of ‘boxes’ you lock your bike into with your own padlock.
