Inaugural club “gravel” ride this morning around the leafy back roads and tracks of west Cheshire.....
Hi Wobert, Which club is this for?
Simply Grey based on Chester, pretty informal, bikes, banter and a bit of a laugh on most rides.

We meet at Evans Cycles in Boughton, next to the new(ish) Waitrose every Sunday....two rides one st 0830, one at 0900.

I can point you to their fb page if you’re interested?

First ride of my new to me Nomad.

Coming from a DH background, going to the Alps a few times around 7 -10 years ago, I haven't ridden more than about 6 miles in the last 15 years.
Yesterday I went out and did 17 miles on Dartmoor. The first part of the route was from the edge heading in towards the middle, totalling about 7 miles of solid up hill. Managed far better than I thought I would, however the legs were getting a bit stiff on the return journey, and my ass needs to be conditioned to being sat on a saddle for so long.

Bike was great, apart from towards the end where I was pedalling hard back down and the chain jumped off, resulting in me sliding along on the top tube. Luckily I avoided nob to bike interface and stayed upright, just. A better guide has been ordered.

Looking forward to more trips out around Devon now.

Ordered a floating Hope Rotor for the front and a phone mount too so I can navigate new routes using Trailforks.

Next on the list is tyres. Someone previously has fitted the bike park version of the Schwalbe MM, which are friggin heavy, nearly 2lbs to be saved by swapping for a different, less hardcore version.

Yesterday I did a gentle loop around the green trail at Cannock with my little boy and some other dads/kids. My lad had a great time!

Looking good at Cannock Chase!

I had a change from the norm, a few days at a conference in Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. I wanted to rent a road bike to do a big lap, but the local shops are all focused on the big Camino pilgrimage walk, so all the bikes were sturdy. I went for the lightest MTB I could find and did a lovely route up the hills north of the city, a mix of road, gravel and trail. I want to go back with a road bike and do a lot more, brilliant place for biking.

Realised today that 38T was far too big for the front, which when coupled with my lack of fitness made for a hard ride today. 32T replacement ordered.

Well, a day out in the Lake District. 75 kms, 1540 m of climbing.

If into this road you go, only pain you will find.

Yes, I did need to take the walk of shame on certain sections

Wrynose poking out to say hello

The clue is in the name

Well, I made it without stopping!
