Hike a bike up Mont Jovet was brutal for a downhiller... the results were totally worth it!

Couple from my first time trial effort last night. Probably would have been better to have chosen a cooler less windy evening, but I’m happy with my initial result of 20.3 mph average on a non TT specific road bike.

Good result for a first time. Number should be much lower down over your rear pockets. It's free speed.

I did a few TTs, local ones run by the local Tri club. I never quite broke the 20 mph barrier though. I've moved this year and don't know of any round here. I'd need to work on my speed before entering any though. I've never been particularly fast on the road, but currently struggling to maintain a 15 mph average, while all around me ( on Strava at least) folk are turning in 18 to 19 mph rides

I've moved to Bournemouth, from Farnborough. The TTs I did were about nine years ago, in Essex, with Walden Tri in/near Saffron Walden.

I was off the bike for two months from May to July, after moving, as I didn't have space/security for the bikes when I first moved in. I've gone from 0 miles per week for 8 weeks to a 200 mile week this week, my second back on the bike. So my legs are still going AWOL on a regular basis. On the upside, I was so busy with DIY that I didn't have time to get too fat this time.

RideLondon next week, plans to (finally) join the Army Cycling Union for club membership, and then maybe a 6-hour MTB race on August Bank Holiday, then I'll think about trying to research TTs locally.

I'll be restricted to a "normal" road bike, no TT/Aero rig, so it'll just be for fun/fitness really. I've no illusions about winning anything... wink

Taken two days ago69 miles on the hottest day ever wink

Ashington, our to Littlehampton and all the way along to Rottingdean for some sorbet

Then back home.

37 degrees was the maximum temperature and I was absolutely drained and like a floppy pyjama case when I got off the bike wobble

Nice one and good luck with it, I’m only in it for the fun too, but it doesn’t help having a National hill climb champion as a mate to show me up in the TTs.

I’m on RideLondon next week too, enjoy it and I’ll say hi if I see you!!! smile

No prizes for guessing what happened here...

Lots of speed, not much grip, fallen tree... I got clotheslined good! No real damage done though.

Wasn't going to fit under that at speed.

Enjoyable saturday morning ride even if a few bits of track were a mudbath, upped the pressure in my fork and shock this week and its feeling much more lively (and didn't bottom out this time).

Ouch! Good all is ok.

I hit my head on a smaller branch today, knocked my glasses off but no damage. Slower too as I was cresting a steep hill, do the same bit 5x a week, first time it has happened - never consciously realised I must've been ducking previously! laugh

Took the young bloke out for a 9km loop round a local lake...

He did well, considering how busy the track was the whole way. Also to not fall into the lake was a bonus

No pics of the ride as such ... I was concentrating on getting my distance over the same time period up ... and increase of 4km (both in distance and avg speed) over the same time as my ride earlier this week.

Slow burn lol but we all start somewhere haha

First time riding to Broadway Tower. Excellent sausage roll and views. Was a bit windy though. 95 miles are finished with a pint of cider in Cricklade.

Is that in the Algarve close to Carvoeiro? Looks very familiar.

It is indeed - the 1st photo is near Praia Marinha and the 2nd near Albandeira. So not far from Carvoeiro.

I almost want this as much as the Stelvio! Great Dun Fell is about 600 miles there and back but a lot less likely, sadly

I've walked those paths regularly as I have a house in Carvoeiro and spend around 100 days there each year. My cycling is always on road though.
