417 is brilliant mid-week! I've been twice and been the only person on the uplift! Looking forward to taking my 3 year old there in a few weeks for a session on the indoor pump track.
My mate (54 yo) bought body armour and a full face helmet, to go to 417. He had a nasty shoulder injury fairly early in the day, and now all his padding and the full-face lid sit unused in his garage as he's sworn off any such adventures ever again. Me? I've tried a few daft things in my time (an XC Enduro MTB race lap on a 90s steel road bike, "White Lightening" at the Tidworth bike park on a gravel bike, etc) but I feel like I know my limits, and closing in on my 50th birthday I don't think I'll ever be tempted onto any downhill run that requires commitment to "getting air", because I want something rollable that won't lead to certain death if i'm not hitting it fast enough.

That said, I massively admire the ability, and cojones, of riders who can make the best use of technical features on reds/blacks. It's just too late for me to learn to ride like that.

Had a nice 100km ride to Monchique yesterday, the Algarve's highest point. 17km hill to get there, lots of cyclists about. Pic is at Silves on the way back.

The evening before I did a Sunset MTB ride, great stuff, got 2 KOM's felt very energetic.

Did another 200km ride. This time from Swindon to Salisbury via Combe Gibbet and back via Upavon. Picture was taken between Marlborough and Hackpen Hill. Enjoyed the Lucozade.

I hope you don’t mind me taking the liberty of “straightening” the last photo..... boxedin

Where is that overlooking? I’d hazard a guess and say South Downs?

Today was the annual Swindon Wheelers not quite 100 mile ride to the Severn Bridge. Probably a total of 60 across 5 groups.

Monday morning strikes again...

And so too, with a loud pop, does the broken spoke. Cut the ride short as the wheel took on a wobble almost immediately...

Time for a new, stronger wheel

Is that the hill with a vineyard/winery at the top? if so I've been up that one and it's a nasty b'stard...

I think it is with Chanctonbury Ring behind, looking down towards Steyning/Wiston?
