It was the British Cycling Let's Ride event in Coventry at the weekend, so I took my 3 year old for a blast around town:

I made it out today, with the idea of doing the Greensands Ridge, however after 24 miles of headwind, I decided to visit Millbrook Proving grounds instead. I've been making some bits for other people over the last few months so decided it was high time I tested them myself!! Thankfully I over engineer things so the parts have survived the Itay Divide and the Torino Nice rally.
The test mules are on the aero bars, not that you can see them clearly in the photo. I had the aeros from when I did club 10 TT's a whilst ago, but the club stopped doing them, so they got relagated to the loft. I'm chuffed to bits When I had a bike it done, the placement of the bars didn't get altered at all, and today was their first outing in the real world. The position is so comfy its untrue!! I have a 1 problem, the GPS's fall just into the focal length where I need glasses!
The obligatory photo
Not sure if it was a Owners club trackday or factory, buy there was deffinatky some activity on track.

I went home to Ireland for a long weekend, and spent 2 days cycling round Connemara, the Irish-speaking part of the West Coast.
285km and 2300m of climbing over 2 days. Beautiful part of the world, although a hefty headwind for half of the first day and persistent drizzle for the second day. The roads were smoother than I expected, and most of the time there were very few cars. Higlhy recommended for a bit of cycle touring!

Beautiful weekend for it here - but wow it was a hot one. Totally overheated on my Saturday session and vommed at 4hrs
5 1/2 litres of fluids, no 'nature breaks' and I still returned home 3.1kg lighter than when I left.
Really nice to get some proper time on this one ahead of Revolve next weekend though (when I suspect the temps will be a little more manageable)...

Headed out in a different direction to normal due to a moderate south easterly breeze- wanted a tail wind on the way home. Was so pleased I did, found some lovely quiet roads and stunning "garden of England" scenery along the North Downs. Will be riding these roads again for sure.
Is that the road with the M25 running parallel one side, and the Downs the other? It's lovely isn't it? I was going really well early last summer, did a couple of hilly rides that way, then I broke my shoulder in August and am still trying to get back to that level Coolbanana said:
After 3 consecutive ride days on the road bike, I was happy to be out on my MTB for a 52km ride along the coast this morning. Quieter too, tourist season is almost over.
Looks similar to where I was last week, out being a tourist with a guided group for a couple of rides and thoroughly loving every second. This was at Boca Do Rio between Salema and Burgau, they were good enough to let me use a fancy Scott so I stood it properly on the rocks whlle the others dumped theirs through exhaustion.

The Stroudwater was completed in 1779 and the Thames and Severn in 1789, the aim was to join Bristol to London by joining the rivers Severn and Thames, the Stroudwater was very successful and was used up until the 1940s, the T&S was expensive to run and didn't get the expected traffic, it required a beam engine to pump water into it to keep the water level sufficient, the last traffic through the Sapperton tunnel was in 1911 and the last traffic on the rest of the T&S was 1922.
