2015 Genesis Equilibrium Disc.
Discussion
I love green bikes. I've always wanted Genesis to make an Equilibrium in that colour, but after waiting for them to produce one in 2013, I gave up and bought a Kinesis T2 Racelight instead. A perfect foil for the carbon Supersix.
The Genesis have decided to release this:
£1899 seems a bit steep though. Only 105, only Aksiums and a steel frame. As lovely as it is, it does seem a bit expensive? I'm still not convinced by discs on a roadie either, something aesthetically I need to get used to.
I've now considered selling the Kinesis just to buy one of these....

Granted a few things have changed, but the verdict on the outgoing Equilibrium Disc was to save the £££ and go for the rim-braked version. TBH, with dropout/axle standards still all over the place (QR? 15mm bolt-thu? 142x12mm?) and hydraulic road brake choice still somewhat limited..I'd still wait.
The new one has a carbon fork instead of steel which apparently makes a difference.
I'm a total convert to discs on a road bike, still not sure aesthetically but in terms of function they're so much better. I rode my rim braked Genesis Volant at the weekend for the first time in ages and it really shows how much more power and modulation you get with discs.
Full disclosure: I do live somewhere rather more, erm, hilly, than Jimbo!

The wheel standards is a valid point, although not one to stop you buying a bike IMO. Whatever the standard you're unlikely to keep a bike forever and I'm sure hubs will always be available for whatever option matches your frame so you can spec some custom wheels to suit your needs.
Unfortunately (for me) Genesis have gone with a 135mm rear end and my current disc roadie has 130mm so my plan to build up an Equiblibrium Disc with various spare bits I have lying around to replace the Volant as my spare/commuter bike isn't going to work as I'd have to buy some new wheels as well as shifters, brakes and chainset making it a rather more expensive prospect.
