Revolve24 Aus cancelled - thankfully I had already cancelled my flights (was due to go tonight). Shame, I was harbouring ambitions of winning both Revolve 12hr events consecutively.
Next race is 24hr Worlds in Cali in October - I'm not holding high hopes of things being back to normal enough to be able to attend that.
Which means it's going to mentally be a really tough six months training for a 24hr time trial that I don't know will happen. The race is the thing that gets me through the monotony of the Satuday '7hrs @ X Watts' rides around the 20 min carpark loop at disneyland.
I can only imagine how frustrating it'll be for olympians if that gets postponed..

Has anybody started up TT’ing again now that it has the green light?

Goodness my last post aged badly
Cancelled California.
Raced Virtual Race Across the West (1000 miles in 98hrs on the trainer. Total elapsed time 107hrs)
I'm doing Zwift races once a week now and looking forward to next year.
I've agreed to enter RAW (the outside one this time) with a friend. So that's next June. SURELY things will be settled by then...

Our local CX league have announced they are planning to hold 5 rounds this season starting in October, so that sounds pretty positive. Really looking forward to doing some racing. Although with covid cases still on the rise again and the kids yet to go back to school things may all change by then.
The question is, do I order a CX bike now so it's delivered in time for the first round....been scouring for sale ads but pretty much every bike is a tiny size (presumably teenagers growing out of them) and I need a 58

Times from the National 25 mile TT today
John Archibald won the men’s with 44’50”
Joss Lowden won the women’s with 52’14”
Thomas Day junior 48’34”
Maddie Leach girls 56’35”
And if you want a real world example of the difference a tt bike can make over a road bike...
George Fox rode twice today in the Kettering 10. He won the tt category with 21’36” and then rode again on a road bike and won that category with a 22’39”. https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-report/2...

On the assumption that his first TT will have been an all out effort, I'd have thought fatigue would have played a factor in that as well? Chapeau tbh, I wouldn't fancy two tens in a day.George Fox rode twice today in the Kettering 10. The difference of a TT/Road bike is also more marked at higher speeds. 21 minutes tens (while obviously still half decent) is quite different to low 19's etc in terms of drag. okgo said:

That's true. But no one has done a sub 20' on that course (N3/10c) yet. George (the rider mentioned above) set the current record back in 2017 with a 20'39"JPJPJP said:

He also has a very aero style roadbike, and I think has done a low 19 on it on a quick course, so I'd say he's probably not typical of the difference between TT/road.Did a race today! CX at Betteshanger near Deal. Raining, 20mph wind, mud bath
Was doing ok considering it was my first ever CX race, was mid pack and had lapped a couple of people. Fitness was fine but need loads of practice riding in mud. Funnily enough was catching people up on the stairs and Banks where you had to run as I did a load of off-road running over the summer.
Gutted though as punctured with 5 mins to go after racing for 55 mins. No pits or spare wheels allowed due to covid so a DNF. But thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back for more. With tubeless tyres next time.

Well done.
I’ve got a few CX races coming up. I normally make up places running but my bike handling is atrocious so I then lose those places in the technical riding sections.
Where as I make up the places in the technical sections, then lose out on the straight bit because I don’t ride my bicycle enough.I’ve got a few CX races coming up. I normally make up places running but my bike handling is atrocious so I then lose those places in the technical riding sections.
First race of the CX season on Sunday- East Kent league in Sandwich. My 2nd CX race ever, hoping to do a full season this year.
Course was bone dry, fast and twisty around school playing fields with a couple of rooty off camber bits, a section of singletrack through some woods and a sand pit.
Started right at the back of the grid as I didn’t score any points last season. Got off to a good start and spent the first couple of laps getting past people. Settled into a good rhythm with another guy and we traded places a few times while we worked out way past a few more riders.
After 50 mins I thought I had to make a solid move so managed to get past him on the finish straight and put a few metres on him so he lost my wheel, which worked great. Didn’t see him again after that. Went through the bell about 5 seconds before the leader finished so didn’t get lapped
Managed to have a silly fall on the last lap, lost the front wheel on a dusty corner though the trees. Nasty graze on my knee but bike was ok so got round the rest of the lap.
Finished 16th out of 31 finishers, really pleased with that as I feel like I’m very much still learning how to race bikes. Can’t wait for the next one in October, although I’m expecting the conditions to be very different!
