Im still struggling to make a decision. I have about £800, want a 27.5 mtb. Why is it so tricky?!
Pick one that looks great, go for a ride, if you like it buy it and if its not the spec your after that can always be changed in the futre.Thats how I bought my last 2 bikes LOL

I'd be checking Bird's facebook page for Black Friday deals on their Zero and I'd be tempted to wait for the new Ragley Marley
You might be disappointed if you're looking for a deal on a Zero.I popped in a couple of weeks ago and spoke to Ben (Pinnick) about a cheeky deal on a Zero, based on last year's price reductions to "celebrate a race sponsorship deal" they had. He was pretty clear that there'd be no similar deals this year, and definitively not on the Zero 3, which he said was "priced as low as we can build it for" to meet a price point.
But. Seeing as how I don't work for them, I'm not speaking for them. It's probably worth keeping an eye on their FaceBook pages just in case, as I can't see the price shooting up after the 'Black Friday' period anyway.
As an aside, there are some huge (50% in some cases) deals on components on the Bird website... http://shop.birdmtb.com/black-friday.html
Brakes, rear shocks, a huge saving on some (used, but serviced) forks. Certainly worth looking if you're in the market for some decent MTB bits.

Back on Topic, has the OP considered the new Bird Zero TR?
http://shop.birdmtb.com/featured/zero-tr3.html
I didn't acknowledge this at the time, but the Bird Zero has jumped to the top of the list. I've not read anything bad about them. Torn between the Zero 3 or the Zero TR3 now.http://shop.birdmtb.com/featured/zero-tr3.html
Typical PH budget creep.

Not sure why yo' buy the regular Zero over the TR3, I assume they're going to phase it out as the TR is lighter and has more up to date geometry so most likely better uphill and downhill.
Just swap the tyres for the free High Rollers.
From talking to them the Zero is being phased out, they don't have any Large left on their website. Been advised there is an offer coming on the Zero TR shortly.Just swap the tyres for the free High Rollers.
Well thank you all for humouring me, I've now purchased a new MTB.

will make an effort to head down to Moors Valley on it soon. I think I'm going to concentrate on hours rather than miles next year.
That will be a good bike for Moors Valley. I got too obsessed with miles last year, decided fun was more important for this year so have ridden the MTB most weekends. Still ended up riding further this year than last though!Grumpy now. The Scott was supposed to turn up today so I rode the cross bike in bringing spare pedals and shoes so I could ride the Scott home after playing in the forest for a few hours. Annoyingly the Scott hasn't been dispatched yet. Not sure I can be arsed to go for a ride now tonight

Moors is actually pretty fast on a CX bike I am told. Hard pack gravel, twisty through trees I know people that have taken road bikes round!
