AS it's now getting closer to September and I haven't seen a thread yet,

Is anyone on here taking part in revolve 24?

For those who don't know what it is, it's a 24 hour relay event taking place at Brands Hatch.
You can either take part in a team of 1, 4, 6 or 8.

I'm in a team of 6 with a few mates and looking forward to getting to ride on a lovely surfaced track.

The night riding part of it should be pretty good too.

It was last year's event, but there may be some content in there that you find relevant.

We thoroughly enjoyed it last year as the PH contingent. With one team of 4 and a duo doing the 24hr and another half a dozen doing the 6hr on the Sunday we had a pit garage to ourselves.

We (24hr team of 4) did one hour stints each with a double through the night, so that we could get at least a little bit of sleep. Having the campsite away from the pits made going to the tent a bit of a faff, so we pretty much just hung out in the garage/pit wall all the time.

My personal aim was to get 100 miles, but I missed it by less than 1. I was on the final stint, but crossed the line with only 4 minutes left on the clock, and by that time I was tired and doing ~8min laps, so wouldn't have got another in before the chequered flag so rolled back down the pit exit to the garage.

Glad some others are doing/done it.

What did you all do for food etc?

Training wise, I've been going out every weekend doing 25 miles minimum and up to 70 miles on one occasion.
have you been keeping in touch with the leaderboard on their app?

Not too sure what to do about food, was thinking about taking a slow cooker and leaving something in it so that people had hot food when ever it's needed.

We're currently at 26th on the app but slightly confused as to how it's worked that out, we're not looking to take it too seriously just want to get to the end.

I've been a bit up and down with training, try and get out once or twice a week (although constant rain isn't helping with enthusiasm) also have the London 100 to worry about first.

I was planning on lots of cereal and flapjack etc, along with stuff like pasta salads.

That's good. We're down in 34th. It's worked out by distance, altitude and average speed, averaged against team size ( I think).

I wanted to do the London 100 but didn't get a place.

We had a wonderful spag-bol in a slow cooker, and it was a very welcome treat later on as it got chilly.

That's a point. Don't underestimate how cold it will be through the night, full thermals required by all but the mega fast lot up front of the race.

I've just signed up to do the 6hr solo ride. Been watching the weather for the last week, so forecast will probably change to rain now wink

Have the pistonheads guy's got a garage again this year? Wouldn't mind having somewhere to dump a bag out of the sun.

I'll be there representing CooperVision in 'Team Bean' (the guy organising it called us teams Bean & Sprout, with the intention of updating the names at a later date... that never happened!)

Roastie, I don't think many/any of our crew from last year are entered. Some are currently bikepacking on the Torino-Nice Rally, some are at the Revival and another wanted to enter again but recently rode up hills that were too steep for him and borked himself (and is also moving house this weekend).

Have a good one though. Great event.

Well, I had an excellent weekend. Wind, Rain, Sunshine, Darkness all added up to make a truely memorable event. I managed 49 laps in my team of 4 and didn't do a lap which took more than 8 minutes. Quite humbled by the speed of the actual fast people, but seemed to do a lot of overtaking so all good!

Pablo and Gruffy, you're both still ahead of me on the fastest lap sheet so must try harder next year!

How did everyone get on?

The team I was in finished 37th (Team 184 - Sprocket Rocket)

I had an incredible time. Fastest lap of 7:30 flat and didn't go over 8:40 all weekend which was the fastest grouping of my team of 6.

Never ridden in the rain or at night so that was a 1st (I was out 5-6pm, 11pm-12am, 5am-6am) then we switched to 3 laps
I got the worst of the rain which made the first corner interesting with the crosswind but I thoroughly enjoyed going round in the pitch black.

I also was out on track as the sun started to make an appearance on the Sunday morning, which is something quite special.

The hardest part for me? Wasn't the cycling or the lack of sleep, but trying to find something you want to eat at 3am after having a couple of hours sleep in the back of a car.

Event was great, people were great, the track was great and I'm doing it again next year.

I ended up being a bit of a let down for the team as due to a slight issue with the regs for the race series I run in I ended up needing to be at silverstone early on Sunday.

Managed to do 4 hours before buggering off at 11, heading straight to Silverstone and leaving the other 3 to carry on, did pretty well considering it was our first event of this type and we'd not done much training. finished 63rd with 136 laps

Have a feeling we'll be back next year.
