White and lime Look 695, wearing the same Jersey as EddH, although the team I'm riding for will all be in bright green.

I'll be riding my black Aeroad with fluro stripe, but I will have my Ti Jack in the garage as a spare. I'm not sure yet what kit I'll be wearing. Either a blue/white speedsuit or a black/fluro skin suit, depending on final fuelling strategy.
I'll be wearing a black skinsuit too. I'd overlooked the lack of pockets so am still deciding on fueling and spares carrying strategy. I'm only in a team of 4 though so it's less critical for me.

Thought I'd bump this considering it's this weekend.

How is everyone feeling?

Black and blue Fuji Transonic. I'll be wearing and yellow and black Television X jersey. There is quite a large group of us.

Hoping to get a paddock pass for parking. I'll be in a dark blue D3 smile

Not in the best shape, if I'm honest. I'm almost at my winter weight already after LEL and my knees and achilles are still feeling it. Cardio seems fine but that's not what holds you back over 24 hours. I'm looking forward to the novelty of having support though. Our man Tony Hetherington will be in the pits for me. It also looks like the weather will be decent, which will make a lovely change. If that's the case then I'm going to wear the black/fluro skin suit. Once the 6/12 hour rides start I'll look like an idiot lapping at a snail's pace but I think it's worth a couple of laps over the full duration.

There was a dude riding the 24 Solo last year on a full TT bike and aero clothing... less the aero extensions. That did not look comfortable or particularly fast! He did very well though from memory so who am I to judge!

I'm feeling ok ahead of the weekend. We have a plan as a team and I am purchasing bacon for the morning to give me a well needed 'pick me up' after the night stint. I really suffered on my 7am stint after having had a couple of hours sleep and so am going to try and get up little earlier and pack down some calories as soon as I wake up to give myself a lift.

Try to get the stint where the sun comes up.
Nothing gave me a lift as much as seeing the sun appear over the trees as I was lapping. It was beautiful.

The schedule is all set in stone, no worries there. I get to see the sun rise on a daily basis on my cycle commute so happy to leave that for someone else! :-D

Probably still quicker than me, I'll have no shame drafting 24hr people...

When we did it in 2015 my stints fell just right that I had both sunset and sunrise.

Tony is going to be there?? Will keep an eye out and say hello if I see him smile Met him on the pistonheads road cycling weekend to Wales a few years ago.

If memory serves he has a Audi S4 Avant. This is a car that I would like to own myself one day smile

I've been shamelessly drafting everyone
Turns out you go a hell of a lot faster with half the effort

Going well for the first six hours, leading by -5 minutes. Then a mechanical lost me 11 minutes and pushed me to 2nd place. I loaded up to go long through the night but suffered a terminal mechanical at 11h19m which forced me out, from what was 2nd place.

In reality, Julian Rider, with the help of his uber-domestique, would've eventually pushed me down to 3rd and I think I'd have ultimately finished 4th anyway, looking at the final times.

I got some good data on nutrition and pacing (for a hilly course) though, which should prove useful for future shenanigans.

You're a machine Gruffy! Sad to see that you had to pull out but was nice to put a face to a name and share the track with you. I totally managed to not meet any other of the PH crowd at all as I was trying to manage the careful riding/eating/drinking/sleeping ratio whilst spending time with my young family who came to the event too!

Anyway. My general stats were somewhat better than last year... my average lap time last year was 7min 24sec, this year was 6min 31sec!

Might have a solo attempt next year unless I can get 3 more people a similar pace to go for a podium assault in the 4 up.

Did the 6 hour yesterday as part of the Television X Team. Was good to see Pablo again and meet EddH (Thank you so much for letting me have a go on the E-Tap)

My team mate bailed due to a mechanical, so ended up doing most the 6hrs solo.

Our team captain has just been checking the results. I'm really really pleased with mine. Obviously I topped the distance table, but I did it by more miles than I was expecting. Managed second fastest lap of our group and got King Of Mountain too smile

Pretty pleased, as I was probably the heaviest rider of the group. Might put some more effort in for next year. Ordered some carbon bars as a treat for myself. Shaves a few grams off the bike and more importantly, takes some of road buzz, which causes me to have numb hands.

Hey bakerstreet we were pitched up next to you for the 6hr.

I was taking a photo of my brother in the blue and white striped jersey and got some of your lot at the start.

Really loved my 3 hours on the circuit and have already signed up another two teams of two for next year but I can't comprehend why anyone would want to do that for 24 lol

I had a fairly dissapointing time tbh.

Firstly we signed up as a 6 and in the end only had 4 people actually do it. This year I was in really good shape up until june when I got married and didn't go on the bike for a month, That followed by a hard first ride after and 100miles in one weekend messed up my knee.
I foolishly carried on thinking it would heal but it never did.

So onto Revolve. I started this year and smashed out a 6:09 and 6:23 first two laps and 90% of my laps afterwards for my first two hour stints were faster than my fastest last year (7:31). I also got the KOM within my team (15.8 sec - Last year was in the 20s)

Also having the bike parked outside the garage and see people walk past and stop to have a look made me happy.

I managed 4 one hour rides before I could no longer walk so decided to call it quits. Leaving my team to finish the last 7 hours on their own as a 3.

I'm happy that I was so much faster than last year and we were on track to beat last years lap total but I'm really dissapointed about my knee and having to leave my team like that. That on it's own ruined my weekend. It was so much colder this year as well which I found killed the fun.

However, we will be back next year and I for one will be stronger, fitter and faster (along with some more fancy bits for the bike)
