I had a great time! Pablo and I did the 6 as a pair and rode well finished 5th out of 69 people in the event which we were chuffed with.
Was good to meet a couple of you (Baker and a few others) a few others from the forum popped down to see us as well. Generally a good atmosphere at the event and everyone in the 6 garage was enjoying themselves.
I'll likely do the 6 as a pair again next year.

on it, smashed it, etc etc. Pleased to finish 5th in the 6 with Edd the Shred,
Such a good event with proper pits, electricity and all that sort of thing. Good circuit too, always changing dependent upon your fatigue, the group you are with or whether you are alone. Was good to see bakerstreet too after all these years, kept getting distracted when we were chatting though, sorry.

Really good weekend.
Had a much better go at it than in 2015, kept all my laps under 9 minutes (target was all under 8) bearing in mind so in 2015 were heading towards 12 minutes.
Just doing the maths and I missed completing my final lap in the cut off by 15 seconds..
We were in
As a member of a 6 man team made up of oldies (over forty) we beat the second team of young-uns by a good six laps
You will have seen our pit marker.
It received quite a few comments

Hey bakerstreet we were pitched up next to you for the 6hr.
I was taking a photo of my brother in the blue and white striped jersey and got some of your lot at the start.
Really loved my 3 hours on the circuit and have already signed up another two teams of two for next year but I can't comprehend why anyone would want to do that for 24 lol
Last year, I rode 4 laps under 7 minutes and the rest were all 7 minute somethings... this year I rode 7 laps under 6 minutes and the rest (all but the changeover laps) were in the 6 minute somethings.... Keep believing and get in the fast group on the first lap and 5 minute laps can become a reality!

It's not fun but a large part of the appeal is simply because it's such an arduous thing to do. The more extreme the more I'm drawn to it. I'd be off chasing Beaumont's new record if I could I don't think it's too different to seeking out hills to climb, perhaps just a little further along the same scale.timnoyce said:

It's annoying because Strava puts my 1st lap at 6:09 but Revolve says 6:23.I'm happy though as I didn't even push for that lap, it pinged up on my Garmin as 6:09 and i didn't believe it.
Sub 6 mins is definitely on the cards for me next year.
I found riding in the groups quite frustrating at times. On the flat I would be with them and having to constantly brake as the speed fluctuated (freewheeling) and then up the hills I'd leave them behind.

Because nothing is more fun at 3am on a cold september morning to be smashing round a circuit after getting 1 hr sleep. It obviously paid to be in the right group, or even make your own group. I was in the lead group off the gun with Gruffy and that was a pretty intense 10 laps. My following stint I came out behind someone that was going quicker than I could realistically go by myself, so put in a big effort to get on their wheel and then started doing turns, and then we picked up a few more people till we were about a 6. That was an efficient way to travel.
I know what you mean though. The difference in speed between the people on track was pretty varied but essentially you have to run your own race and hope that you could find other people going your speed. On my final stint I didn't manage to hook up with anyone so just had to slog it out in the wind!

I was in the lead group until the relay teams splintered off after an hour. Then it dropped to 3-4 riders, where I ended up doing all the work. Thijs was more than a bit cheeky/clever here and did nothing. That lasted for a couple of hours and then he surged to jump onto a fast 3-man bunch that came past. I rode the remaining 9 hours of my Revolve without any shelter. Nobody was riding at my pace by then. The teams were either much quicker or much slower. The solo guys were all much slower except for Thijs, who was now making a few seconds per lap in a faster train, but taking a longer stop.
When I was with a group I yo-yo'd quite a lot. I'm a little slower up the climbs but from Westfield, all the way into the climb up Druids, I was tucking and freewheeling (with a couple of revs through Dingle Dell and Clearways) and matching or even overtaking other riders. A combination of weight and aero. I do fancy a circuit that's less spiky, where I can lay down a flatter output. Possibly Le Mans next year and just run the Six or 12-hour at Revolve.

I've entered the 24 as part of a team of 4, not sure how well we'll get on as haven't done a lot of training, starting to get a little concerned now.
I wouldn't worry too much. You'll run on Adrenalin all weekend and doing 1hr runs works quite well.
Most difficult thing is finding stuff to eat at silly times in the morning. It's not a difficult course, you just have to take it steady.
As long as the weather is okay, then it will be fine.
