I live in North Devon, so terrain is similar to yours but probably a little more extreme. Seems reasonably light, can get some more road-oriented tyres and it will take mudgurds.
Mainly, I like the colour though...

Provided it does what you want it to do. No point getting something that won't take tyres over 25c, won't take mudguards, and won't take luggage if you want to do any or all of those things. Otherwise we'd all be on TT bikes riding around in a full tuck with our arses in the air. We aren't, because TT bikes are bloody hard work and nobody wants to ride one all day.Mad March Taffy said:

How will the Boardman cope with rough services? Currently considering same sort of budget for a bike that will be mainly used on the road, or on the National Cycle Network which occasionally goes off road, on to stone tracks.Can anyone explain gears whats better 18 or 26 gears with more than one front sprocket or 11 with one front sprocket?
Carbon will be fine at your weight - I'm 81 kg and have done over 5000 miles on my Propel in just over a year. I have ridden it through the winter and that hasn't done it much good. It,doesn't have clearance for mudguards so the brake callipers needed changing and have just been told the rear wheel brake track has worn out. I admit I quite want new (improved) wheels so haven't put up much of a fight. The brakes and wheels will easily cost as much as a new cheapo bike (or a good second hand one) but I love riding it.
