Superb news, really looking forward to riding 100 miles with 10,000+ other cyclists on a car free route through one of the Main Cities in the UK and through some lovely countryside... roll on the 24th September, 7 weeks and counting!
(I take it you won't be coming to cheer everyone on FiF!)
...take a clothes peg for your nose. If they haven't resolved the bin-men's industrial action by then, you should perhaps consider a plague jab too... (I take it you won't be coming to cheer everyone on FiF!)

Signed the route off this afternoon. You're welcome, enjoy yourselves, please don't act like tits. Some of us have to live here and be out the next weekend.
?You take our money but we are not allowed to say anything when you start suggesting that the route will not be closed as the description?
Get over yourself, like it was all you who did it. Hero.

Are you involved in the organisation? I'm really looking forward to the ride. It's my first go at a century and first closed road event. Fingers crossed for good weather and a good atmosphere! theboyfold said:

Hardly likely seeing as I've consistently criticised the organisers over poor standards of communication and other matters. Council hasn't helped themselves in various ways either. There's a definite faction within Worcestershire public and council who just want to see the whole event cancelled, or at least go somewhere else. It will inconvenience me, but not so significantly that cannot be worked around, unless traffic chaos is worse than expected, and I didn't and wouldn't even consider putting in an objection. However there are people and businesses that will essentially have to close for the day allegedly losing thousands in lost trade. They are pissed, and considering the lack of consultation and short notice, eg I have sympathy for the guy who will have to close for the day, and then suffer the Tour of Worcestershire the very next weekend. He will be very vocal next year, it will be interesting to be out the next weekend and see if there is some sort of backlash as some of the same roads are being used. Two big events a week apart is not good planning, although the second is much smaller.

Ah, I misunderstood your post! Anyway, I'm looking forward to it, I hope it's not too much disruption for you locals. Regarding all the moaning, do we have a legal right to roads being open every day, all day? Clearly not as they are regularly closed for maintenance/utilities etc.
Do we have a legal right not to be inconvenienced or to make money from our businesses on the route every day? Nope.
Seems for many non-cyclists it is just something they can feel good about moaning about, pretty sad really. And no I am not doing it and yes I do live on the roads it goes through, but hey ho, I will have a day at home and give them a cheer as they come through or go off somewhere else.

Hopefully the majority of householders on the route will share your thoughts and enjoy the day too, on other closed road events a lot of towns/villages make a whole day of it setting themselves up with "Village fetes/BBQ events" from early through.....Yep C2 here (one of the fat lads at the back lol)
Bit worried the broom wagon is set to follow at 19 kmh ten mins after the last wave!
Did the route in two halves last week and the first half is a lot harder than the second.
Is anyone else being dropped off by partners on the day? How far in do you think you will be able to drive? The road behind Centenary Square could be a convenient place to unload and get ready.
