It's a crap time of year, I hate it. Everyone is full of the joys of spring, Oh it's March, it's spring etc. It was february yesterday and it's still bastad cold. March. It's a tart of a month. Promises so much, delivers so little. Bugger off, March!

Stacked it on a roundabout last week on black ice - gone through the hip and the knee on my good thermal bib tights and lost a fair bit of skin. Bugger!

On the plus side, it was sunny and dry for 20km or so of commuting yesterday.

Roll on the lighter days and warming up enough to avoid the ice risk!

It's not so much the weather as the dark. I work 8-6 so it'll be a few more weeks yet before I get the benefit of a light ride home.

Yep. I had to leave early today to get back for the kids. Was riding along thinking why does it feel so different, then realised its actually light!

I feel quite lucky now as it's not been that cold here and my ride to and from seem quite light!

I carried out my first overtake this morning (it's a quiet cycle path, never been overtaken either!). I was slowly catching without really trying but didn't want to actually overtake, until I got closer and realised it was an electric scooter. Then, for some reason, I was determined!

Dry and sunny on the way in this morning, and then on the way home it took me so long to dig my waterproofs out of my panniers and put them on that the rain had stopped by the time I was ready hehe

I cycle in my work clothes with waterproofs over the top if it's raining, the main aim with these is to stop the water running off the bottom of my waterproof trousers and in to my shoes, and therefore not need to keep a spare pair of socks at work for emergencies.

Do I work with you?

There's a guy who last year decided to ride the 4miles in from his home. Great. Hes got bad health and this seems sensible

BUT

He rides in his work clothes covered in non breathable waterproofs. Takes off the waterproofs and gets to work! Colleagues reckon its exacerbated by him wearing the same clothes every day!

It's utterly disgusting to be within 10feet of him for the rest of the day! The smell is rank! Asked the management to delicately intervene and remind him of his personal hygene responsibilities. They have declined! Saying it should come from us not management rolleyes

Last month he happily admitted he rode through a flooded river to get to work. Was up to his knees apparently! vomit

I ride 60k a day. And it's not a hardship to have a shower at work when you get there! You just have to allow a little extra time

I've started riding in again sporadically (depending on weather mainly) Been fine, few close passes but nothing awful. (And I did save a lost Dog a few weeks ago to boot biggrin ) Until this week when in the morning a in a Jag XE overtakes then immediately turns left! rolleyes

Then same day on the way home, some old man in his 60s in a 69 plate Golf R (oldlife crisis! biggrin) nearly took me out on a roundabout. Shouted to alert him of my presence! But he gave me the finger in response. rolleyes I never understand this! If I make a mistake I put my hand up or flash the hazards to apologise. Why get stty?

Caught him in traffic few miles further on. Asked him at his window if "he fking saw me now?!" (I mean it's not like I'm wearing all black at night!) Full ignore, eyes forward. He then decide to be the big man by pulling right up behind me (in the painted cycle lane) and leaning on his horn. Then racing off. Caught him again another mile further on and was tempted to escalate it, but decided not to. Could perceive it getting a bit silly!

Annoyed at myself that I bothered. Nothing I do will ever have made him admit his failings. I'll just hope he gets Coronavirus soon smile

That sounds very unpleasant!I hope you don't have to sit too close.

Rode everyday last week, first time I've managed a whole week.I'm the oppersite of a fair weather cyclist it seems!

Yeah that sounds pretty horrible. My commute is only 3.5km and I've no complaints yet biggrin

Planning to move house in the summer and if I end up further from work I'm very tempted to get an e-bike so I can still cycle in without working up a sweat, and then put more effort in for the way home.

This is an excellent idea. My wife and I love ours (16 miles round trip commute).

First Budapest commute of 2020 today, for various reason.

Was just about 1 deg when i left, and gloriously sunny at 0750... Thermal short bibs, merino base, thermal jersey and a gilet and i was good.

First ride in the new Rapha Explore shoes and with with new Speedway SYZR cleats on the cross bike. Loving the shoes, need to tighten up the release on the cleats as i'm popping out to easily.

Very nice to be back at it smile

Honestly, half the battle is changing ALL your clothes when you get to work.

Work have just suggested I should take my laptop home daily, incase we get Corona. It's a fair lump, going to get boring on the shoulders quickly.

Same. Sucks balls doesn't it.

I'm leaving the power etc at home to cut down the guff. I expect it will only be for this week, before we're all put into lockdown.

I’m already fed up of taking my laptop home every day. It only amounts to two extra trips on Wed evening & Thursday morning but I used to really look forward to those pannier free commutes! Still, were seemingly progressing toward just working from home so this week (only as a test of network capacity for now) there has been no commute of any sort.

It's currently 19 deg and gloriously sunny at 1153 in Budapest, and i didn't bloody ride as I'd organised beers for my team after work tonight.

Typical.

I've got to take my laptop home as well now. Together with charger, headset, my books. Add that to work clothes that I can't leave there now and it's too much.

I'm just gonna drive until we're back to normal. Will try getting up early and going for a pleasure ride instead before driving in. Bet it won't happen.
