I've got 90 miles under my belt this week with one off while avoiding a wayward pedestrian (smash) but now we've been told to WFH if we can to thin the population in the building down a bit. So I've just got back into it and I'm back down to 1 day next week!

Lovely ride in to the office. 3 deg with a 'feels like' of -1. Sunny. Surprising amount of road traffic, but fewer pedestrians and public transport commuters.

Thermal bibs still left the knees a bit cold, but 7km is doable. I'll be more comfortable on the way home at least...

I guess that's the last ride for a while unless you cant work remotely!

I presume we're not allowed out to cycle to fun either.

I'll be cycling my daughter to nursery tomorrow, then going to view a house. Ride to work on Wednesday, car on thursday. Wfh friday is the plan. We're expecting schools to close next week so then that's a whole new game.

The thing with "social distancing" and "self isolation" is that cycling can still be done outside for fun and fitness, without falling foul of these "rules" if common sense is applied (and you're lucky enough to live close to open roads/spaces).

I fully intend to continue riding, unless I am confined to my house because I start suffering the symptoms associated with Covid-19 infection.

Think about it. For me, I'm out into the New Forest within about 5 miles. Once there, I pretty much don't interact with anyone while riding. Anyone in a car is cocooned away from me, and I from them. Other cyclists? We're not know for randomly high-fiving or hugging one-another without warning, so no transmission there. And walkers and horse riders? We'll head for opposite sides of the roads or gravel trails. There are next to no surfaces to touch to pick the virus up via shared contact. Cycling is probably a whole lot safer than going to work or a trip to the supermarket, and we'll still need to make trips like those unless we're infectious. Bojo can do one on this subject, I'm afraid. I get dressed in my house, haul my bicycle out of the garage, go for a ride and come back without seeing more than half a dozen other people up close, and don't interact with any of them. Meanwhile, my wife will soon be expected to move from her department, probably onto a ward, possibly with direct care responsibilities for Covid-19 patients. so anyone who thinks me going for a solo ride in the middle of bloody no-where is "dangerous" or in any way "irresponsible", they can join Bojo in jogging the fk on. They can prise my bicycle from my cold, dead hands if they want to, because it's the only way I'm giving up one of the greatest pleasures in my life... tongue out

I tested my mega-gravel 650b wheelset today with 48c Panaracers... totally wierd. I don't know if it's the change in effective head angle or the massive contact patch but it was so twitchy, the front wheel would do the opposite of self-centring and to begin with I was steering agaisnt every pedal stroke.

Other than that they are super comfy, if a bit slow.

Nope, rode in to the office today. Left just before 0900, was 7 deg or so. Very pleasant. Fewer people out on the streets for sure.

So far no 'you can't ride your bike' nonsense from the Hungarian Gov. We'll see what happens.

I can work remotely but for now will be in the office, mostly.

I've decided to follow the advice on the cycling UK website, which does still say riding by yourself is ok for now.

Worth sharing this as cycling by yourself advised okay under green light.

I’ve not had much chance to ride my bike so far this year, but ironically will do once I swap to working from home. So going to take advantage of getting up at the same time going for an hours loop before starting ‘normal’ day.

I've got a friend who works for an IT company. His office closed, a couple of years ago now, so he works from home since. He does the same thing, going out for his "commute" as a MTB loop instead of a point-to-point ride to work and back. He instigated this routine because he'd lost a bunch of weight and got healthier from swapping from commuting by car to cycling, and he didn't want to slip back down that slippery slope to Sloth. So he still gets up early enough to do his "commute" before he logs on for the day, and he's now fit enough to enter MTB races, albeit at the "fun" end of the Grand Vet category.

That's my issue right there. I usually leave for work about 8:15-8:30. This morning I was at work by 7:45 but still in my dressing gown at 9:00 hehe
Going to get out for a run at lunch time but annoyingly the weather doesn't look anywhere near as nice as it has the last few days.

I usually ride to work 5 days a week except when off site. I’m now on a split wfh / office pattern and will really miss the ride in so will be getting myself up and out the door at 07:00 for a 1hr ride to set myself up for the day.

I’ve got stunning countryside just a few miles away so am rather looking forward to it as a change of scenery from my usually road / cycle path jaunt.

Stay strong guys and enjoy the ride.

Still plodding away with my ten mile round trip to work and back but yesterday I managed to have my Moon Nebula back light come off somewhere between work and home. Needless to say its nowhere to be seen on the way home today.

Given I can pick up another light and the saddle mount for under £30 probably and given all thats going on in the world at the moment, I'm remarkably pissed about it!

I'm in a similar position to your friend yellowjack. I only started riding at Christmas and it's really helped me shed a few pounds. I don't want that to stop so I've managed to get a couple of rides in last week.

I went up box hill and then a ride to a local national trust property at lunch time on Friday. I'll try and do a bit more next week.

Polesden Lacey? It's lovely there. When I lived in Farnborough it was one of our "go to" places for a short notice trip out, a walk, and a coffee. Quite a few Trust properties around there too, off the Guildford to Leatherhead road. Sadly it won't be an option to visit those places for a while now.

Stay safe everyone!

How are we all doing then?

First day back for me tomorrow, aiming for 2 days per week from next week.

I can't remember if I left my towel in the locker or not, so it'll be a 'big bag' day tomorrow. Haven't done a proper ride for 8 weeks, this is ground zero. Bought some G-one tyres and a new top to help with the motivation...

I was made redundant at the end of Feb, and finally started a new job, from home, last Monday.

I've been trying to get out for an hour each morning, which I'm calling my commute, and have managed 6 of 7 days so far. (I had to drive to the office to collect a laptop on day one.)

I'm enjoying it, but it's not so easy to justify it to the wife as saving us from having a second car...

hehe
