I looked at that medium one today at pauls, my current defy is a medium/large and to be i am right on the borderline, i was tempted by the one at pauls even though its over my budget a bit but I am wary about ending up with the wrong sized frame. I am 5'11 with 32 inch inside leg.https://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p6969/GIANT-DE...

I have enquired with my local giant dealer and to be honest they annoyed me, refusing to discount a penny and going on a rant about "unethical sellers" and a "race to the bottom with regards to customer service". I would question who is being unethical when others are selling a bike £400 cheaper!
I am prepared to pay a little more to shop fairly local but not £400 more!
Now would i get away with a medium frame??

Giant are not keen on discounts or mail order. Pedalon have a points system in lieu of a discount.
While this is true for current model year bikes, they can, and do discount previous years' stocks. My Giant Anthem was £1499 at RRP. It was listed by Pedal On at £1199, being a 2015 bike getting cleared out to make shop floor space to display more of their 2016 bikes. I found another (the only other 'M' in the country, as it turned out) up for £899 at an on-line retailer based in Wigan. Pedal On were not happy, but did price match it for me. BUT! They do not extend their Podium Points scheme to 'sale price' bikes - it's reserved for buyers purchasing at full ticket price.
Great shop, by the way. I've bought my last two bikes there, one at full retail, with an incredibly generous Podium Points allowance, and the Anthem. They're also really good at keeping the oily bits you really need in stock. Stuff like freehubs, etc, that often have to be ordered in by other shops.
They have a really good, large (three adjacent shop units) shop floor area, and always have an extensive selection of models and sizes from the brands they stock. Well worth a look if you're in the area...

Shop with online presence then. I can't recall the name of the place now, but I recall thinking "Pedal On will NEVER price match that one - it's too far away to be a true competitor..."...and so I checked the receipt - it says "Price matched - Winstanleys", which is indeed based in Wigan.

I have emailed them as my wife is interested in a 2015 liv envied they have on their site (she's a bit of a triathlete) and hopefully they might do a bit more discount if we are buying 4k plus bikes from them.
