s/h Tioga Stratum saddle. Flex is mainly in the spider-web shell. Like a poor person's Infinity (can't justify owning two of those!) or an updated Brooks. Nice and light at 160 g. If the sit-bones won't play ball it goes back on eBay!

Perfetto.

Last bit of Winter gear for me, no more purchases.

Hopefully.

Maybe some base layer leggings.

Castelli Pro Light rain jacket down from 175 to 80 at Merlin, looks like it could be a useful commuting jacket.
Nice. Hmmm.... Maybe not my final purchase then.
Well I see why the perfetto is so warm. It doesn't breathe.

I’ve never actually managed to find a jacket or jersey that has any wind or rain-proof properties and doesn't boil me. Shakedry stuff gets closest but I still get pretty sweaty in that.

I’m a sucker for marketing bullst though so keep throwing money at every new wonder-garment that comes out.

I've long since given up on trying to be dry. All I want is to be warm.

My Gore shakedry jacket is fantastic for waterproof and breathability

Something like, but not exactly the same as this

My best purchase lately is a set of alpinestars riding trousers, makes such a difference in this weather.

Just ordered a front Maxxis DHF and a rear Maxxis Shorty tyres

I'm supposed to be saving money by cycling to work... I dread to think how much I've spent in the last 3 months on bike stuff. Don't tell the mrs...

Apologies for interfering, but on the same bike that's an unconventional tyre choice. It'll give you way better climbing traction and relatively poor front grip when descending... The bike will understeer.

I’ve got one of those....

Without fail it always unscrews the valve core following use, resulting in an instant flat again!

Not recommended frown

Thanks, that’s an interesting perspective, the DHF is one of the most commonly run and highly rated front tyres.. most of the guys I ride with run a dhf front,

It's absolutely not a bad tyre, but it's an all rounder so won't grip as well as the shorty in the UK winter. The shorty is an intermediate mud tyre.

It's just unusual to run more grip at the back. Look at most new bikes and they tend to have the most aggressive tyre up front.

I run a magic Mary front and minion super slick rear on my hardtail all year round... But I like the back end drifty.

My full sus bikes are full on mud tyre front (coincidentally the shorty's more aggressive brother - wetscream) in winter# and whatever I have lying around on the rear. But then they carry more speed so the front end confidence helps.

  1. only on natural trails, they're rubbish on trail centre hard pack.

Ok thanks, it’s interesting info. I’ve read all different reviews and some people running dhf rear and shorty front so I’ll see how they run and swap if needed. I’m currently running a magic Mary on front and a ruined Hans dampf rear. Where I am it’s pretty muddy and boggy which is why I’ve gone for the shorty for mud clearance.

I'd definitely start with the shorty on the front.

Yea we’ve done most of upstairs but the hallway is getting done last to save new carpet getting ruined while we cart stuff in and out

Anyway box has been emptied, need to liberate some pedals off another bike and fit bottle cages etc.

Time to get some race entries in!

Although I don’t get the concept of a gravel bike, that looks lovely!
