Worth every penny then
Are they massively thick, kind of like walking socks?
I ride in Five:10s' Freestyles. (and also more recently courtest of ideas here some old TNF gore- tex walking boots, but dont want to shred the soles with the pedals / screws. Are they massively thick, kind of like walking socks?
TBH - I have / had bought previously a few pairs of Sealskinz from www.SportPursuit.com hoping for great things.
But not best pleased with - and found they hold water in as much as anything and assume they are to act like wetsuits. Genuinely I am not a gnarly bog trotter, freestyle nutjob, but splashing around found I still get wet feet. Worse. Cold feet with the wind chill. I even sneak a pair of thin office type socks or some sock liners in - but after a 2hr ride I can find my toes cripplingly cold.
I do not on the whole in life suffer from circulation cold toes.
So I again after recommendations on PH (see the thread about the MTB waterproof boots) and elsewhere thought I would bit the bullet and buy a pair of cold weather spec, wind proof, waterproofs direct from source :

they don't feel any thicker than the ones bought from Sportspursuit previous (at circa £15 a pop) so they better actually perform.
I’m a acquiring a number of Rapha items, most recently purchased was a Windblock Merino L/ S jersey.
It’s a lovely bit of clothing but the temps need to be <10oC otherwise it’s too warm, even with just a base layer underneath.
The wind blocking elements work really well and it’s well made, plus the fit is great.
I picked one up for less than half of the £160 rrp.

Garmin Edge 530 performance bundle.
Had it in my head I wanted a bike computer with nav for some time. Last Friday I went out and did my longest ride to date [only 100km, but for me, thats a significant milestone], wound up having to do a bit more navigation than normal and I'm past the limit of being able to memorise junctions for that kind of distance.
Didn't really *need* a performance bundle, but as it was only £50 more than the plain unit, it didn't really make sense not to when it will get me a heartrate monitor strap included. With the HR strap I can fully use it to track rides, rather than having to try and get my watch to broadcast HR to the Edge, Zwift has shown broadcast HR to be a patchy process. The cadence and speed sensors that also come along, well, more data is never a bad thing...
