The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2
Discussion
My Karoo 2 arrived, at long last...
Very impressed so far. Feels like a quality bit of kit. Garmin adapter works well, no play or unwanted movement in the mount (which I’m very happy about) The detent to unlock is pretty light, so will see how it pans out when riding.
Really fast wifi joining.
Sensor/Connectivity setup was pretty straight forward (HR, 4iiii Power/Cadence, Di2, iPhone)
Maps updated/downloaded.
Will take some getting used to with profiles etc as that’s a very different user experience to the Wahoo Bolt. Once I’m happy I don’t think I’ll be playing/tinkering much anyway.
Already managed to upload a ‘ride’ to Strava etc by accident
Screen is very nice, both to look at and use.
Excited to get out and use it. Hopefully Thursday...

I've been having issues with my chain slipping when sprinting on the turbo.. on closer look a new chain ring was needed:
And after further checks I need to change the BB too (threaded at least), which will be a good one to learn. The bike is from 2014 and spent last 2-3 years on the turbo so can't really complain

Nice, keep us up to date with how you get on with it? Better/Worse than an Element? Will keep an eye out for your updates
Setup was easy, first ride today was good but need to understand rerouting as it seemed a little odd. Will play.

My BB replacement has gone up from £9.99 to £16.99 since I last bought it in Oct 2019.
That means I've got the best part of 2 winters of commuting out of the last one, which isn't too bad, as well as a good bit of other riding. I guess it must have done about 4-5k miles.
Everything's relative! Have you seen Dr Hambini's prices? https://www.hambini.com/product-category/bottom-br...That means I've got the best part of 2 winters of commuting out of the last one, which isn't too bad, as well as a good bit of other riding. I guess it must have done about 4-5k miles.

Dayum... That there is some quality blingage!
What frame is that lovely lot going on?
I've got a lovely Curtis frame. Its an XC9, that I had Gary customise the geo a bit. What frame is that lovely lot going on?
Some Bearclaw bikes Ti boost forks too.
Not the cheapest way, maybe not the most appropriate for a gravel / adventure bike, but it's a long term project.
The bits I'm putting on will be what I consider to be the nicest - almost heirloom quality. But it's taking it's sweet time haha

I'm doing similar - but 'bouncing' up the ladder using C2W. Got a Eastern produced Enigma gravel/audax with Hope, etc. last year. Sometime soon I'll sell the frameset and get a custom UK made one from the guys at Enigma.

So, some thoughts
Screen - next level. Just so nice to look at. Touchscreen works really well, easy to swipe between day screens. Much better than changing pages on the Bolt. Easy to see in the sun today.
Metrics - Absolutely loving the circular graphical power screen I have set: speed, power circle, and time/% of ride spent in each power zone bar graph at the bottom. This will be getting A LOT of use. Great to have so many data fields in the numerical power screen too. W/kg is very nice to see all the time. That screen I will tidy and remove the simple power metric as it’s too erratic, and I have 3s power there anyway. Gearing screen is nice to have, but not really useful today.
Map/Nav - map looks great, but not really used it or the Nav yet.
Connectivity - all sensors connect quickly and easily (Di2, 4iiii Dual sided power/cadence, Wahoo HRM, iPhone) Power Meter calibration seems to work first time more often than the Wahoo. No drops or signal loss. Rock solid so far.
Battery - the unit was on for 1.5 hours @59% brightness and was at 90% when I was home and checked it. Temp was 8 deg. Can’t fault that. Will continue to monitor.
Mount - mine sits rock solid in the Black Inc mount, using the Garmin adapter. No concerns
Overall I’m very happy.
Next steps will be to get a longer ride in with a route set and test the nav

Just ordered this, Trek Domane Sl4
Nice frame, cheapy Tiagra and sort of fits between road with a hint of Gravel bike, pretty much the modern version of my 2014 Domane with disk brakes and the Isoflex on the front as well. Bit of storage inside the frame for tools and tubes which is pretty good.
Old Domane will live on the Turbo Trainer and as a spare, annoying only having one bike and having a fault so gives me a stand in rather than losing a week of summer waiting on bits if I break something.
Been really happy with my other two Treks so will stick with it, sure I could get more for the money or spend more but its enough bike for me.
Ordered that, this turned up, for the same price.
Next model up, only done ten miles so getting it dialed in, changed the saddle for a Charge Spoon, first impressions are good and it ploughs along feeling sort of unstoppable and planted.
Its not light, prob 23 pounds with accessories on but I found I was looking at the computer and going faster than I thought, to the point I checked it had the right wheel size in, but it was correct.
Its if anything a smidge too big being a 58, they recommended it, but could do with about 1.5 cm taking off the seat stem, reach is fine, just doesn't go down far enough despite stem still showing.
Really well built, the finish is exquisite
