Gone wireless with GX AXS.

My XT rear mech was knackered so bit the bullet and replaced with the SRAM setup. I like it a lot. Quick, smooth and precise shifting everytime.

Enjoy

At 300 quid for a derailleur I think I'll be going deore next one I break. Got gx axs on both my mtbs and replaced one when I caught it on a rock. Excellent piece of kit otherwise have you bought the optional rocker from the x01? Much nicer
I have never whacked a mech hard enough to destroy it (you watch me do it now frown) so I'm prepared to take the risk with this.

Interesting what you say about the optional rocker. The standard one is the one thing that is a bit annoying. The bottom button feels OK, but the top rocker feels a bit off. Is it an easy change?

One of these to build into a new winter bike…

NOS 2021 frame set with the “all road” geometry and 5 year guarantee, direct from Alpkit.

Plan is to move all the running gear from my GT Grade over as a mini project….

Just fitted new bottom brackets to the MTB and gravel bike.

Also picked up a Specialized Tactic 4 MIPS helmet (super comfy) and a pair of Madison Crossfire sunnies……

How about this indulgence - a Myles Rockwell signed Giant DH jersey to go on the wall next to my ATX DH Team

It cost too much and I don’t really care :laugh!

A new gadget. Moving to this from the original Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt, so should be a good upgrade, hopefully.

Nice! I just splashed out on a Bolt V2 as I'm planning on expanding my riding routes from those I have been bashing continuously. Did my first ride with it navigating at the weekend, impressed, my only gripe would be the screen is just a wee bit small, but I'm sure my old eyes will get used to it.

All for my new Ragley Big Al 1.0

Side entry cage as the frame's a bit tight:

Bar tape for the middle of the bars... I like the wide bars going down, but find them awkward climbing and found I like to hold the middle instead...but it wasn't very comfortable on my delicate hands wink

The Maxxis Minions it came with were heavy, slow and way OTT for the riding I do. These were £25 each at Merlin (down from £60+) so thought I'd take a punt. First time I've tried tubeless, happily they went on like a dream. I rather like the grey walls, too smile

And finally, mudguards. The front one went on quickly and easily and looks a bit less clunky than the one on my old bike; the rear took a lot of faffing and trying 2 or 3 different ways, but went on ok in the end and is surprisingly solid. Not a thing of beauty, but I think a bit less intrusive than a mudhugger. Just 2 bolts to remove it, too... which I probably will shortly as the weather is unusually not wet here in Wales at the mo.

Oh, and although not a bike bit as such, I got fed up the other night with the very old slow knackered PC I use for Zwift taking over 40 minutes to fail to launch Zwift properly, so I just spent £150 on a refurbed machine to replace it... Switch on to pedalling now a couple of minutes and even though I've not added a graphics card yet, it already wants to run at 1080/medium.... I've been used to watching (stuttering) 576/low which is pure cartoon world rofl

That’s a mega find!

Ritchey post with more layback to try and help with bike position…

…it’s no better, time to admit defeat and pay for a bike fit.

Can I ask about bike bits I WANT to buy ?

I need new line felt things for my MTB Giant helmet. Despite washing and trying to care for, they are now goosed (forehead band mainly.)

New bike!

Stif Squatch Pro

It wasn’t what I was originally looking for.
I had an order for a Commencal in February & it was pushed from June to October, I stumbled across the Squatch and was sold on it!
I was about to buy the lower spec model outright when Cycle to work made a comeback at work & Stif are part of the same scheme so I got the Pro version on C2W.

Can’t wait to take it out, only been round the block on it but it feels like it’s going to be fast.
I’m hopeless at bunny hops on my full sus but within minutes or riding this I was hopping up curbs no issue.

I’ve got some Hope Tech 3 E4s to go on it, I know the divide opinion but I really rate them.
I’ll sell the Sram g2 RSCs off this, although they do feel quite nice.

I had these Purple valves for the bike I cancelled, unsure whether to put them on or not?

  • quick question about the brakes;
They have a match maker clamp for the dropper, it’s as inboard as it goes but the lever catches my hand, would be so much nicer if there was more adjustment.
Anyone else had this issue?
If I turn the clamp round and re mount the lever the angle is all odd
Pic of the lever slide as inboard as possible.

Answered my own question re the match maker.

I had a right hand match maker in my spare parts bin. That’s set the offset more inboard and it’s fine now.

I’ll try these Sram brakes out see how I get on as I’ve still got ~£30 worth of match makers to buy for them!. My mate will buy the hopes off me if I decide I don’t want them so no loss.

2 of these as a cut has appeared in the sidewall of my Giant Toughroad original tyres. After not too many miles.

I'm in the market for a Garmin Varia but seem to have missed the Amazon deal as they're £169 currently - doh!

I’ve got an old Ibis Mojo SL which I love and handles BPW fine, but it’s raw carbon and I’ve always liked the Vitamin P, so grabbed a bargain Mojo HD Vit P frame. Still ancient, my fork doesn’t fit it, but the colour!

29 x 2.4 DD Maxxgrip DHR2

£85. Lot of money to spend on rubber to just try out for sts and giggles on the front.
Even more money when you realise they suck hehe
ha ha, they do
Just came to say initial impressions are the DHR2 is brilliant front and rear, only ridden the front in dry conditions so far though!

Loads of bite on its edges (like seriously, bags of grip leaned over - the most confident ive felt on a bike so far an ive been off the bike for two months) and rolls reasonably well. Non of of the random sudden grip loss from the assegai or squirmy Magic Mary, no questionable loss of bite on transition from centre to side from something like a dissector or DHF.

I ran the DHR2 DD Maxterra out back since January I think and its been exceptional in all conditions and the front behaves just the same so far, still expecting it to bite well in the slop.

Ive had all sorts of tires in the last 3 years and this is so far my favourite.

No pictures as it hasn't arrived yet, but I succumbed to the call of a Garmin and bought an Edge 130 Plus in the Amazon sale. It will replace my wildly inaccurate Cateye wired speedo thing.

Have a horrible feeling that it is the beginning of a slippery slope into cycle tech, as i've started eyeing up power meters now laugh
