The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2
Discussion
Needed a pair of SPD pedals as a stopgap - my M324 bearings have gone. Wanted SPD one side and flat the other.
Found these Gewage (who?) pedals on Amazon and at £35 thought they had to be worth a try whilst I try to service the bearings in the Shimano set.
Just fitted them yesterday and did a couple of short ride. Obviously can’t comment on longevity but so far I’m really impressed. Really good flat side - larger and gripper than the M324s and the SPD side seems to work well.

Servicing Shimano pedal bearings? Best have an old washing-up bowl to disassemble them in, along with a pair of tweezers and possibly a "magnet on a stick" tool. I speak from bitter experience, having had only the tweezers to hand when I took mine apart.Found these Gewage (who?) pedals on Amazon and at £35 thought they had to be worth a try whilst I try to service the bearings in the Shimano set.

I eventually recovered all the tiny ball bearings. Eventually. The magnet was also particularly useful for fishing small brake fixings out of the silt I dredged up by hand from the rainwater drain on my driveway on another occasion. I really need to sort my garage out with a proper wrok bench...

Decided to step up to a full face helmet for my occasional lift/shuttle access bike park days, might encourage me to do it more often and progress my downhill riding (I'm less than 2 hours from Queenstown so plenty of opportunity).
So I've got one of these on the way, hard to say no to a half price clearance deal!

Pretty happy with the fit once I swapped the thinner cheek pads in, wouldn't want it to be any smaller but the padding will pack down a little with use. Even came with a nice padded carry case.

Yes, well, it was a thought process a bit like that which led me to buy a pair of interim pedals … however, they seem so good I’ll likely just keep using these.I eventually recovered all the tiny ball bearings. Nice box of bits arrived...
I figured the front 220mm would be very lonely without a matching rear, so took the opportunity to whack that up to 203mm. Bizarrely the 203 was cheaper than a 180, and the 220 was cheaper than a 203, so with man maths I've had a complete overhaul, moar power, and actually saved money
Also tracked down a couple of sets of new genuine pads instead of the common fakes floating around.
Going from 180/180 will be a huge difference.
Most importantly, now the works angle headset has come, I can now get on with fitting the new fork and getting it dialled in in time for bike park season

Where'd you get the 220 from. I currently have 220 galfer with hope brakes and rear rotor. Makes my OCD itch
Honestly, I knew with a silver smaller rotor on the back it would drive my ocd mad too They were on sale at chain reaction last month - although the price has gone up and some colours now not

Cheers... Out of stock. Just have not look at the rotor when I'm loading it on the roof of the car. They were on sale at chain reaction last month - although the price has gone up and some colours now not
