The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread Vol 2

A few cheap aero gubbins in an attempt to save a few watts on the last few TT of the year, a massive £13 on a Planet X Notus aero helmet and £15 on some Velotoze oversocks.
Only done a few this year on my road bike but seriously thinking about trying to pick up a cheap TT rig for next season.

New BB30 pressfit bearings and grease
Clunking, banging noises from the BB... Removed the old bearings and they are, shall we say, past their best.
ETA now fitted
Was sure I had a bearing press gadget somewhere, but couldn't put my hand on it this morning. Had to improvise with a couple of big washers, nuts and a bit of threaded bar. Job jobbed. Test ride was suitably quiet.

Erm, not as such. I was going to write up a Strava Story or something but I've not yet! Below is our route for the 4 days that we rode.
DAY 1. The Lizard to West Hill. https://www.strava.com/activities/1702786621
Day 2. West Hill to Hereford. https://www.strava.com/activities/1704762363
Day 3. Coalport to Mankinoles. https://www.strava.com/activities/1706920081
Day 4. Mankinoles to Helvellyn. Rest Day!
Day 5. Helvellyn to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. https://www.strava.com/activities/1710844052
It was supposed to be 5 Days, The Lizard Point to Berwick Upon Tweed but in the end we cut our Day2 short as we were ruined in the heat and we realised that we probably weren't going to finish riding till 9 or 10pm. In hindsight, a Day 2 of 289km was ballsy! We also made the decision to take a rest day on Day 4 as our backsides were in tatters! Day3 was so hard. The relentlessness of the hills in the Peaks was nuts. They were so steep and so slow. Anyone who cycles there regularly must be hard as nails! My Wife and Kids were the support vehicle for the week and we were staying in YHA which were pre booked so we had to make the required progress regardless. Our plan was to rest up on Day 4 and enjoy a nice sunny day in the lakes to freshen us up for the final day. Sadly, we also cut the final day short due to the ridiculousness of Virgin Trains which meant that we couldn't book our bikes onto the train south from Berwick. We cycled over to Newcastle so that we could put my mates bike in a box for the journey home.
It was a great few days riding though. Amazingly tough and my first 'back to back' long rides. I've done maybe 10 rides of over 200km now, but never done any long ones back to back, so was interesting to see how the body coped with it. If and when we do the next trip we will choose to either have hilly days or long days... the combination of long distance, savage hills AND the insane heat was a bit much!

Cheers Tim. I’ve had a look at your routes and they’ll prove useful. That’s some going!!!
I have a month off work coming up and am tempted to cycle round the U.K. Inspiration, right there!
Also able to bring this back on topic - just bought a Charge Spoon for my mountain bike. Let’s see if it’s any good!

Our un-ridden route for day 4 is here: https://www.strava.com/routes/13646043
The routes were generally excellent. Nearly all the traffic was tractors as the roads that we were riding were so small. The only crappy bit was between Cheddar and The Severn Bridge. We were riding more of the National Cycle Routes to try and avoid all the busy roads which was a bit slower and awkward to navigate. We saw 2x burnt out cars within a mile of each other in one shady area around Bristol and were stopped by someone to ask if we had seen their stolen moped... that gave added enthusiasm to get the fudge out of there and into Wales! :-D

Due to my press fit plastic BB disintegrating after about 30 bike rides, I have had to invest in some tools and a new one today.
I'm attempting to learn how to fix things as I go along. Therefore, I thought bugger it, I'll buy a press and a tool to help me fit the new BB.
The BB in question is this one as I have a 86.5mm BB shell and the last one was a BB-RS500-PB. I think the thing has been lame since I got it from the bike shop as I've always had an annoying clicking/creaking noise. It got worse the other day and I noticed play in the 105 cranks. (I had a mare of a time with the shop when I bought the bike so I'm not surprised). When I took the cranks off, bits of the BB fell off
