We hired bikes, cost us about £50 for 3 days, full carbon, decent bikes, one even had Di2. For that price it's not worth taking your own unless you absolutely must have your own bike there. Other benefit is if anything happens you have mechanical support if needed.

Good - that is at least I don't feel too much of a weed having just ordered a new 105 compact chain set to replace the new mid compact on a bike I've not yet received.

I did 113km today with 1770m climbing - I was knackered, that was on my current bike a Planet X Pro Carbon with 34/50 and 11/28. I think I'd have had to get off and walk towards the end if it had 36/52 & 11/28 so feel I have made the right choice.

If average normal spec was higher geared I may have saved some money and tried harder but I don't think it would have been much fun.
