Yea I ordered disc and di2 too...

My emails say dispatched between the 24th and 28th, so I questioned them this afternoon on live chat and they reckon it won't be sent until next week at least and that the email stating said dates was sent in error...

Just checked the email again. Dispatch is 31/7-4/8, so if I'm lucky I'll get it next week at some point.

Its alright for some, mines all been cocked up with UPS!! Mate of mine ordered his bike on the same day as me and had it on Wednesday (Ultimate SL Aero in Blue and it looks fricking awesome!) - yet mine is still in Germany with UPS. UPS have so called had it since Tuesday and have made a right dogs dinner of it... Been told it should ship today.

Did you go for Red or Black (I went red!) - from what I can see we both have the same spec? Aeroad SLX 8.0 with Discs and Di2 at £4049?

For some reason I have also been out and splashed cash on pretty much new everything to go with this bike! New Fizik shoes in black and red, new Castelli Gear, Bibs, jersey, coat - you name it! The only thing I still havent brought myself to doing is shaving my legs - but I am getting closer!!!

You will look like a complete prat on that bike with that kit and hairy legs.

To most people I already look like a prat for many reasons already:

- Going out on a bike at 5am in the morning
- Going out on a road bike fullstop
- Wearing lycra
- Spending £4000 on a bike.
- Buying clothes that match the colour of my bike

So, if I have to look like a little bit more of a prat then I'll just take it on the chin! Maybe when the new bike arrives I'll feel inclined to get the razor out - but for now I cannot bring myself to do it!

I know you've already bought the bike (and made the right call I think) I'd take discs over Di2 - you can always upgrade to Di2 later on but if you buy the rim version you can't fit discs to it.

This was my original thought, but looking into it further I think Canyon make a Mechanical and Electronic Version of the Frame. I dont know what the differences are, but it might not be so easy to integrate Di2 into the frame at a later date after all. Im sure it can be done and I might even be wrong, but to save the grief I just decided to do it properly and go all out!

You could always fit SRAM ETAP and then buy the plugs for the cable holes.

This was another consideration but I had to draw a line somewhere. Shimano Sora would have been good enough for my legs, so Ive just decided to settle (and rough it) with the DI2 for now wink! Just need the damn thing to turn up now...

I've gone for the red and black too. Exactly the same spec as you. I ordered the cages and black water bottles too. Annoyingly they have sold out or Garmin mounts and hangers. So I'm desperately trying to find a second hand Garmin mount.

My cycle clubs colours are red and black so I'll already be colour coded to the bike. Funny you mention the leg shaving, i did it last Saturday in prep for Ride London. SWMBO commented that it looks feminine, I think she's just jealous that I did such a good job of it!! smile

Most will never notice. The ones who and actually care enough to comment are the ones you most want to rile up. smile

Yea I did the same, got the cages and a few bottles. You might be in luck with the Garmin mount, I'll explain. I spoke to the Live chat team and they told me the mounts wouldn't be available for 3/4wks, so I went onto eBay and bought a knock off for £40 (lot of $$$ but reviews are Ok.) Then the next day by chance I was looking at the accessories page on the site and the mount was available, so I ordered the legit one too...

So.... if all goes to plan, next week I should get the bike, a legit mount and a knock off one! I'll let you know if the knock off one is any good, If it is you can have it off me at cost or I'll just return it.

Hi Russy

I received the UPS number from the day it was despatched from Canyon. I downloaded their app and tracked it from Germany to Norwich and got an email this morning telling me it was going to be delivered late today. I popped out this morning and when I got home the thoughtful delivery driver had just left the box on my front doorstep!!! eek I don't think 10 days from ordering to delivery is to shabby too.

The bike was built up this afternoon and I gave it a quick shakedown before the rain hit the city. It's safe to say I am very happy with my purchase, the extra weight over my Ultimate SLX is not noticeable too.

Thanks for your offer of the Garmin mount, however, thanks to the power of Pistonheads, '2ky' from here has contacted me and offered me his spare one.

Hopefully you'll get some news on when yours will be delivered soon.

Cheers

Flipper

Oh bloody hell, this just makes it worse. After being promised despatch again for yesterday they failed and it still didn't leave. So at about 4pm I got on the blower - it took 69mins for somebody to answer...

Anyway, got hold of a very helpful chap. Explained the story and he went through my order with a fine tooth comb - he found an issue with the order (something internal) and my order has been sat on their system for exactly 2 weeks and hasn't been touched.
I was staggered as I have spoken with 3 other staff last week and was fed various stories on why the bike hadn't been delivered...but they were all under the impression it was with UPS!

So the geezer said he'd put a message through to the correct department and get the bike processed ASAP. I refused and demanded that they take more action than an email to a different department and march down to said department and put the bike on the lorry otherwise I will cancel the order. Said department was closed at that time last night, so the chap has promised to sort it out this morning and call me back at 10am...

So... whilst complaining about issues when ordering a >£4000 bike is very "First world problems", I am starting to get a bit fed up with the whole scenario and the shine has been taken off the whole experience already! I even went down to my LBS (which has >100 bikes on display) - but ultimately this has just confirmed that I do want the Aeroad... It seems good value compared to similar bikes on the market...

Get a picture up...

Blimey, I'm not surprised you're annoyed. Hopefully they sort the issue today and it'll be winging its way to you very soon. All I know is, you won't be dissappointed.

Anyway, here's a pic to whet your appetite....I'll put some more on the new bike thread

I love how clean the frames are without rim brakes! It looks really nice...
I dont know about you, but I have bought quite a few new bits of gear to go with the bike - been building a small wall out of Wiggle/CRC/Sigma/Tredz/Merlin boxes in my office... just opened them all up and realised Ive got a bit carried away! Will have to wait until she is out before I bring it all back home!

- Fizik R4B shoes in Black and Red
- Fizik Antares Saddle (Dont get on with the Arione)
- New Pedals
- Canyon Bottles & Cages
- Castelli Bibs
- Castelli Jersey
- Castelli Coat
- Canyon Garmin mount (£40!!!!!)
- New Socks!!!

I best up my training a bit now...
