Snap!! Here’s mine, in the kitchen getting a bit of juice! Looking forward to getting on it tomorrow, used my winter hack and Cx Bike for a few weeks!!

Yes, correct - the wheels do not like a crosswind!

I'm not sure if too many high end road bikes ever go on the 2nd hand market, do they? I suspect when the time eventually comes it'll just be relegated to a spare bike.

My old bike will just become my winter/bad weather/commuting bike now to be honest.
Likewise. Every few years you just have to dump the worse one to keep the Mrs happy...

I keep an eye on eBay etc and dont see many coming up tbf - although there is a red medium on there at the mo...

Good lad... im a full red and black Castelli wker now - got a couple Perfetto tops in Red and Black!

Funny you say that about the seat post. I was in a group of 4 absolutely blasting along at 30mph trying to take a popular KOM in the area until I hit a drain cover and my saddle slipped right down onto the frame! It was hilarious - looked like I was sat on a kids bike! I couldn't get it to stay in place without more Carbon grease so had to ride 10miles home out of the saddle!

Picked up some cheap Mavic Cosmic UST today. I want to use the bike, but not enjoying the 65mm aero wheels in this weather! These were £350, so I can crack on and not worry about breaking the wheels..

Nice!

Are the stickers removable?

Imho if it were mine, I’d remove them to maintain the red/black colour scheme....
Removable for sure, just whether I can be assed. Bound to make a mess...

I quite like the cosmic logo though, might be better in a grey.

Well I had a nightmare earlier! Bike shop fitted the wireless unit (need to take the bottom bracket out to do it.... Unless you attach it to the junction box, but that'd look naff) and all was working fine.

Get back home, plug into laptop and it says to update the firmware for the wireless unit.... But it can only be done via Bluetooth, so I had to use my phone (quite why it can't be done via USB I've no idea!).

It was installing the update and theny phone Bluetooth stopped..... And yep, it fked the update up. Not only that.... It sent the whole di2 system off.... So it wouldn't do ANYTHING. It wouldn't change gear, it wouldn't even recognise anything on the laptop except the wireless unit and the junction box.

Pressing the junction box button did nothing (no lights.... Nothing, was dead as a dodo!). I was panicking because I couldn't reset the firmware of the wireless unit on the laptop and my phone wouldn't recognise the wireless unit to reset it either!

Quickly rushed back to bike shop who had to remove the bottom bracket, remove the unit, individually unplug everything and plug it back in again and it was then all working! Then plugged the wireless unit back in, tried updating andy phone said firmware error, please update..... This time the update worked.

I now have working gears again and a working, updated wireless unit! Was a right mare! Set the hood buttons to change screen on my garmin which is pretty cool, and also got the di2 battery level displayed on my garmin. By the looks of it it does it in 10% increments, as it was showing 90% but after some use it dropped to 80.

They say it should last approx 1k miles between charges. So one could assume 100 miles per 10% charge.... So when it gets to 20% maybe use it for another ride or so and then charge. Saves faffing about looking under the stem when you want to check it.

Phew!
Sounds like a nightmare! You ever gonna get out and actually ride this bloody bike?

I certainly would not say they are st, but they do have their quirks (wait until you need to put a tyre on one!) But they are readily available at £1200-1300 most of the time - not £1500+

They are st.

Mates of mine who use the bike more than me have gone through multiple sets and seen many issues. They are st in the wind, and the braking is dogst too now I come to think about it.
Sorry, I cant resist - but can I ask why your mates keep buying them if they are so st? I generally dont buy something again if it was st first time round!

They've had them repaired, nobody will be buying a second set, trust me!
Oh well. They're absolutely fine for me and have had relatively good reviews in the past so Ill just put it down to a matter of opinion.

Cheers.

Looking good! I'm tempted to save for a 40mm section front wheel for the slightly more windy days. Would it look a bit daft with a different front wheel to a rear wheel (eg zipp front wheel but Reynolds rear)!?
Would look ok if you removed any Zipp decals.

I’m not a fan of the look of the cosmics, think the decals are too big and bright - but I cannot be arsed to take them off!

Another one on ebay...........Wants £2.6k for bike, £600 for wheels. last seasons Ultegra

Offered him a reasonable (So I thought) 2.7k all in.

I got a "No, and it's the best bike ever, and Alex Dowsett is getting me a new one"

KK mate.
In fairness the chap has been completely open on the listing stating that he really does not need to sell it in any rush and will happily stick it on the wall...

So your offer of some £500 less than his asking price obviously isn't going to do the job!

In all seriousness though chap, you are obviously very keen to get on the Aeroad bandwagon and seemingly happy to splash serious cash on a used model. Instead of making low offers and then complaining about how the guys have declined on here just spend the money and get a brand spanker for £3199!
