In the case of compliance with braking systems push bike's - did you know ( insert lightbulb emoji here ) "Any constable in uniform is empowered to stop a cyclist and test the cycle for compliance with these regulations, and to enter the premises where a cycle is kept if it has been involved in an accident up to 48 hours previously" ???

Thats your house they are coming knocking on systemparanoia, or should I say, crashing down the door and aksing questions later lol
So that means i can just accuse anyone of having a collision with me, and then get to enjoy watching the filth kick their back doors in?

Im a guy that's spent his entire cycling life attempting to be convicted of 'Cycling Furiously' or 'Wanton and Furious Cycling'

so far unsuccessful... despite asking hehe

im also a pro-bono defence solicitor in my spare time.. but i cannot advertise this as i have not completed a pupillage.. or any qualification in law hehe
Sounds like the right idea bearing in mind the gaps in your legal knowledge.

This guy in the articla was prosecuted under the wanton offence, which in itself is a vastly outdated and pointless piece of legislation. Cycles are under represented in the statutes, which probably won't last much longer given the recent surge of cyclists and the way cities are evolving to accomodate them.

They will probably kick your back doors in not their own, but then they would probably use their judgement of resonable force and knock first.

I know because I am a pro boner special constable in my spare time ;-)

It might be if the car had no front wheel braking system

The braking system is split in motor vehicles, so there is more than one braking system ;-)

Don't get too excited. The owner of the premises has to consent.

'I won't say she deserved it, it was her fault. Yes it was her fault, but no she did not deserve it. Hopefully it is a lesson to be learned on her behalf.'

This little gem posted on a biking forum should be enough to see him hang. To leave the scene of a good collision, leave a woman on the floor and then go keyboard warrioring around trying to justify that it was all her fault for being on the phone. No words.

Can we just agree that this chap is a total bell-end?

If I were to knock someone over, regardless of fault, I would be mortified. I certainly wouldn't be playing internet hardman about it whilst someone was in A&E with head injuries.

He's going to make a great wife in prison. laugh

Yes. Though in a serious matter like this I would expect that the next course of action would be a warrant, which changes the rules somewhat.

More likely an arrest with the bike being seized as evidence.

Completely agree with this.

I worked with a guy who had a girl run in front of his car. Completely not to blame. Police agreed so and so he asked if he could have her details at hospital, they were passed and he delivered some flowers and magazines to her. He felt so bad and the family could not have been nicer to him.

However I do believe if he had a break fitted (even if it didn’t work effectively) we wouldn’t be seeing this in the news.

So how many people on PH ride non compliant bikes? Most SPD pedals certainly don’t have amber reflectors on. And most road bikes I see take the other reflectors off which are required at night.
