I'm thinking of another road bike and Evans have this 2017 105 Synapse on offer;

Current steed is a 2010ish Specialised Allez Elite with Tiagra which is a nice bike but sometimes just feels a little cramped and harsh on the road.
On your Spesh could you not possibly move to slightly wider tyres, a different stem/bike fit and double up on the bar tape?

Really, would love to know more, as I thought the big players were quite rigorous.
Not much more I can say.

Our company used CTW through Evans and you can only buy through Evans. Think my Brompton was £1055 and I also bought the bag as well (waste of money). Evans also give you a £60 voucher with the scheme too.

Second year, I bought a Fuji Transonic and that was in the sale at £1274. I just paid the difference on my credit card smile This was Evans Kings Cross. Quite a nice shop.

£1500 and only 105? I’d expect ultegra for that money. Wait a couple of months and it will plummet in price as they clear out 2017 for 2018 models. That’s what I did bought at the end of November £700 off list.

No. The bigger brand bikes are £1500 for 105 weather you like it or not. They will drop in the sales, but there is no such thing as a free lunch and the preferred colours usually remain at the standard retail price.

If you want Ultegra at under £1500, head off to Ribble or Planet X smile

Ok I'm not light nor fast but wanted a contrast to my Genesis Equilibrium. I test rode the Synapse and found it solid but dull and sluggish. I took a chance on the Supersix and was blown away, it's the opposite of harsh and with Vittoria Corsa G+ tyres and lightweight (1500gm) Superstarcomponents wheels on special offer it's a bullet. It wants you to improve and makes you feel better than you are

Apologies, missed the disc brake bit, as you were!

I bought this exact bike form Evans at the end of August, it was £1,599 at the time so I don't think it'll go much lower, although when I bought it I got £200 worth of clothing in the price!

It's the first bike I've had in about 15 years and I'm dead chuffed with it, although I don't have a lot to compare it too. My cousin has been riding a alloy Synapse 105 for about 6 years and has been extremely happy with it.

As others have said the wheels are st so I'm going to upgrade them in the new year for some quality carbon wheels.

Here she is after a bath last week

You could get the Ultegra version for less - https://www.rutlandcycling.com/bikes/road-bikes/20...

There have been deals on the Synapse since July so worth looking online and if you want it from Evans, ask them to price match if they have your size.
That's a 2016 bike and they've only got 61cm left in stock! Couldn't work out why it was so cheap at first.

Good colour scheme and no matter what the purists say, I still think that discs are the best all round choice.

If you haven't ridden for 15 years, how can you tell the wheels are s%&t?? wink Apart from the mags telling you that in nearly all bike mag reviews biggrin

Don't discount something like the new SHimano disc wheels. Some of them look pretty good. Crosslights also get good reviews, but they are more of a CX wheel.

Thanks, you're right I don't really know they're st. However for a carbon bike it's very heavy, 9.7kg, partly down to poor wheels. I know it's partly vanity but I really want some Mavic Cosmic Pro carbon wheels

There were a couple of sizes available when I posted. Either it's a mistake or the 2017 model is identical
