Same here, just cannot get motivated when it's so wet, windy and cold. I can manage any one of them individually, but all three of them together, feck that.

Finally this morning sun shine and just a breath of wind, temp 8c, all in all a very rare commodity in Staffordshire this Winter. Got myself out there did 30 miles including a couple of 500 ft climbs all be it gentle ones. Legs after 5 miles felt lethargic but pushed on and rode it off. Back home shower wash the bike off, life feels great once again. Just love this semi retirement.

Added a pic of my water stop

Don't shoot me but I haven't been out on an outdoors bike ride since October eek

2 very small children mean my spare time is currently very limited.

However thanks to an alarm clock set to 5am, a KK Road Machine, Trainerroad and iplayer I'm the most bike fit I've ever been.

Can't wait for decent weather biggrin

I have been doing lunchtime runs from work so haven't become a total hermit/recluse smile

3 Hour Zwift for me on Saturday. Longest I have ever done inside and probably longest I have spent in the TT position, it wasn’t as bad as I expected.

As much as I love cycling outside, I have fully embraced the indoor training in the last year or so. living in central London and having at least an hours ride to get anywhere semi good it has really made a difference.

I don't think it's been any worse this year than others, a bit less windy than a couple of years ago and I seem to remember last year having constant ice on the roads all the way from Christmas to New Year. Not missed a single ride this year due to weather although hitting some black ice a couple of weeks back and coming off was a bit of reminder of why doing an hour on the turbo is probably a better idea when it drops below 3 degrees (temperature is no problem as long as you have good kit but ice is just too dangerous really and can be a bit expensive in bike repairs)

Wet doesn't bother me, cold doesn't bother me, snow doesn't bother me.

The ice currently covering most of the locality though... Stuff that.

Same here. I’m down on the south coast and we’ve not actually had any icy conditions yet that have kept me off the bike so my mileage has stayed pretty healthy over the winter so far.

I actually get a bit of a kick out of cycling in st weather. So long as you’re suitably equipped for it there’s definitely an extra hit of satisfaction when you have a nice hot shower and a coffee having peeled off wet, cold clothes in the porch at the end of a good ride.

The only thing I don’t like is that my rides are a good 2-3kph slower on average at this time of year compared to the summer. I keep telling myself it’s the weather but it might just be the fact that I fattened up over Christmas...

Thats me all over. Felt smug uploading my 47mile ride yesterday (through nonstop rain and floods!) when all my Strava friends had only done 10miles on Zwift each...

The fattened up over Christmas is also me. Did one of my least favourite climbs yesterday (silently hoping Id smash it) - but it was st, my heart nearly died and I subsequently got angry about the 10lb Nov/Dec put on my hips!

Poor visibility and avalanche warnings meant no skiing today so we hired two fat bikes. Huge fun in the snow and a serious work out.

I just don't enjoy riding when the weather's like this, so i don't.

Wattbike and swimming, usually a couple of sessions a week of each until it's warm and sunny again.

Off to Elevenerife next week. £300 all inclusive and another £100 for a £3000 bike, good hills and guaranteed weather. I can eat £300 worth of 'free' food in a week.

After my week in GC I think this is the answer to the the UK winter, break it up with some sun. I'm counting down to the next trip already, 7 weeks and off the Fuengirola for a week of mountain biking in the Spanish hills. UK summers seem to be getting better and longer so it's making more sense to use the leave on escaping the st winter.

You need to move further south if you don't think we've been having good summers. It's basically good weather March to November these last few years.

I live in Southampton and distinctly remember a gorgeous June, early July was great, but from mid July and all of August it was terribly wet. I think it was one of the wettest August on record, wasn't it?

i noticed that on Sunday morning, i did my usual 50K road ride around St Albans area and there were only 4 other riders out instead of the 20-30+

It was cold, raining, then sleeting and finally snowing but in all honesty its more a test of kit than anything else...saying that if i would have tried another 5K i think i would have died of hypothermia!

Note to self: sealskin oversocks are rubbish, must by proper overshoes for the Northwave boots.

It's glorious out there today, if it stays like this I'll be out this weekend for sure.

Also just got my kids new Frogs as they've outgrown the old bikes, so it's likely we'll all be out anyway cool

I've had a titfull of this winter. Been doing my two evening rides on the turbo but I can only stand that for 1 hour max. My long rides I am still going out. I am training for a spring triathlon so riding the TT bike, with no mudguards and its very cold and unpleasant. Last week it was sleet / snowing and despite 2 pairs of socks and overshoes after 45 mins I couldn't feel my toes anymore.
