put the original Schwalbe Smart Sam nobbly tyres back on ready for winter
I seriously wouldn't recommend that unless you have no intention at all to ever encounter any mud! The Sams are utterly lethal in mud.
Following PH advice, I'm happy with Magic Mary up Front, and Nobby Nic at the back for trail and mud

I've gone with Maxxis Shorties for mud duty. Pretty good at Surrey hills the other weekend but feel slower than DHF/DHR I normally use. The real test will be some good old Kent clay...

After a long 7 month wait (Indiegogo), my FLX Babymaker Pro finally arrived yesterday. Carbon Gates belt drive, single speed, disc brakes, 350W hub motor. Took it out for a quick 13 mile test ride today. Level 3 assist at 15mph is about the most comfortable. Pleased with the look. (Yes, I know it’s a silly name)

I was ‘so’ close to going for one of those: pleased to see they delivered biggrin

Won't be going in mud, just commuting on roads, but I like to swap from the Schwalbe Big Bens to the Smart Sams for winter as they are better on the snow. The Smart Sams are what came with the bike, so I just shove em on for a few weeks of winter.

After abit of advice, hypertheticly* If I wanted to change my 9 speed cube acid 400 to a 11 or 12 speed what would be involved?

New "groupset"? Hanger, shifter etc?
Don’t do it. Mid drives like to eat chains and cassettes at the best of times. The 11/12 speed group sets use a thinner chain so it will be even worse.
I'd leave it as a 9 speed. My Levo is 11 speed and more often than not I find myself going up two cogs rather than one to get a meaningful change of ratio. One cog often isn't enough.

I recently had the Error 503 on my Cube/Bosch ebike, which needed a new speed sensor cable. Google seems to suggest your code affects 2020 Bosch motors.

Hmm, I got it Jan 2019, it's a performance line motor, not the cx.

I've contacted my local bosh approved shop, hopefully a warranty job.

The code relates to "internal sensor fault"

First proper ride out with the Babymaker today on my weekly route. 26.4 miles, 1,013ft elevation gain. Used Level 3 (of 5) assist all the way (up to 15mph). Ride took just as long as my normal road bike! Hills way easier but flats at 15-17mph were hard with no assist - it’s a heavy bike at 32lbs. I wanted to get a benchmark for the battery at L3 and came back with full 5 bars! Next week I’ll try L4 all they way for an easier time!

25 very muddy off-road miles on the Cube today, it was really good to be out, 25 miles was enough for this early-retirement pensioner though biggrin

I needed some better tyres and purely down to what was available at short notice (I know I asked a while back and other tyres were suggested) I went with Maxxis Minions, DHR & DHF . They were outstanding in the slippery mud, highly recommended.

Commencal Meta is available in 27.5 now. How cool does that look

If there is one ebike that will get me into ebiking its that, I dont fancy 29er in any bike, but have to say I did seriously consider a 29er Meta for a while. If it was available in 27.5 id of got one

Had my fitness not improved massively this year id probably frivolously buy one of those, but im at the point where I dont really need one now

Not sure if the fitness bit is actually relevant is it? I'm seriously looking at both Analogue and EMTB FS, and not looking at the other thinking itll make it easier, but thinking that the E bike offers more enjoyment to tackling technical uphills. I guess it depends how flat the area is around you.

Surrey hills, so plenty of climbing available

I think its very relevant although I get the ebike thing, not having a go at ebikers saying they are st or unfit because that's absolutely not the case. Just for me personally I craved some assistance going uphill which is why I wanted one, just makes less sense to me now I've got fitter

I had a really enjoyable day. I didnt go straight onto the trails with the lads as they ate pretty hardcore. I spent most of the day on the fire roads then had a go on a downhill bit and managed to get 3/4 of the way down before i fell off.

We were at the lakes, winlatter which is quite popular.

I do have a bit of a sore bottom, apparently this is quite normal when first getting back in the saddle.

I have given a short reply above. I am at work and replying on my phone which isn't ideal for me.
