A vast amout of fast food delivery here in Delft is by e-bike. They have special cargo bikes specifically for it too, with large flat racks front and back for the pizzas, sushi and whatnot.

It's great because we are no longer plagued by evil mopeds with stupid (or rusty) exhausts. However you don't want a delivery e-bike sneaking up on you at 25kph. Especially as they are driven by 14 year olds on pavements covered in tourists.

You still have to pedal with a light frame, lycra, in slipstream etc.

You just press a button on an E-bike.
Incorrect, the motor only comes on if your pedalling.

I had a demo ride on a couple of ebikes at Sherwood Pines at the weekend.
One was a £4.5k Haibike Evil Seven, it was fantastic! I love getting out on my bike when I get chance but that isn’t very often so my fitness isn’t as good as it could be.
Having an ebike could make it sooo much more enjoyable for me, it’s not about cheating, it’s letting me ride for longer and enjoy it more.
I would probably have to do 3 laps of the red route on a ebike to get the same fitness as once on a normal bike so in my eyes that’s 3 times the enjoyment.

Trouble is the other half’s car was £1200 so a £4500 bike is a no go.

My cycling buddy uses one to commute to the train station, he doesn’t have shower facilities at work so doesn’t want arrive all sweaty. He converted an old MTB with a kit.
Doesn’t seem to have turned him into a couch spud.
I may do the same if I end up getting another London job, I currently take my bike on the train but they’re ditching the trains with Guard’s vans.
An ebike would be cheaper, quicker & more convenient than a car, scooter or public transport.

My ex demo Haibike has arrived and I had a play around last night. It's unbelievable. The good thing is that it can be used with the assist off and at the lowest settings it's barely noticeable. On "high" I climbed a bank I would struggle to walk up to. You do have to put the effort in and I reckon I'll push even harder on this as the reward/satisfaction is brilliant. Its ideal terrain would be a mountain trail you can climb up and blast back down . Highly recommended. Not a million miles from a basic trail riding motorcycle

I've been riding with my mate for 20+ years. The last couple of years we've barely seen him due to a long term illness that has got worse. He's now back out with us on a fancy 3k MTB that even has Bosch satnav. biggrin

Very constructive criticism rolleyes my “crap” conversion has done over 2000 trouble free miles so far, only needing a new chain, sprockets and brake pads. I’d say how crap it is, is down to the components used and the skills of who built it.

Any details/pictures of that?

You got it wrong, it’s not impressive at all, however it’s proof I went out and used human power to travel round.

Don’t resort to calling people “virgin” either. Makes you look childish.

You could have used the same energy and gone further on an ebike.

We don't need proof, we don't care. No one questioned whether you pedalled a bicycle, you came here to waggle your little willy and keep getting laughed at or called a wker.

You do care though, so much in fact people shouldn't even ride a electric bike they should use an petrol engine so as to not tread on your hallowed ground. You care so much so you uploaded an image and then posted it here to "not look impressive". Think about the effort you have gone to, for no reason, i a thread you don't actually think should be around. All because you think it is not impressive.

Sorry if I look childish, my bad.

To remain mature as you Wiggo, I will stick to saying people are lazy or disabled if they don't use a bicycle the way you do. Keeping that moral high ground there fella.

You are a proper divvy Luke and you are digging deeper and deeper.

P.s. what is childish though is I see your average speed and it is quite low Luke, my I could do better on my electric bike (go on you bugger, bite)..
