Electric bicycles - who buys them?

I ordered a new Canyon for Mrs DS a couple of weeks ago - I fell very lucky in that that build set was coming through. It was in Koblenz en route this afternoon.
There’s very little else out there. I was hoping this would mean strong demand for her old one, but zip. I think I’ll end up offloading it to a bike shop or Cash Converters for a few hundred and cutting my losses.
What is it you're selling? Send me a message.....There’s very little else out there. I was hoping this would mean strong demand for her old one, but zip. I think I’ll end up offloading it to a bike shop or Cash Converters for a few hundred and cutting my losses.
Getting one of these for my work commute - https://www.radon-bikes.de/en/e-bike/trekking/rela... - and just had the email to tell me that my order is packed and waiting to be picked up by the courier. I might have it tomorrow but probably Monday or Tuesday.

that wont set the heart alight for many, but bet for a commuter that looks the job
Yes, I know it isn't an outrageous looking electric mountain, road or gravel bike but I chose it with my head rather than my heart (I really couldn't justify the Canyon Grail:On as much as I tried). The components seems pretty good (with the Nyon head unit it even has sat nav) and its primary use will a 60km round commute. I still cannot decide on what pannier bike to get for it.RedWhiteMonkey said:

I am impressed with the overall quality and colour is much nicer in the flesh than on the website. Currently trying to figure out a way to attach my u lock to the bike. The supplied holder thing doesn't really work due to the thickness of the frame and I don't want to block bottle cages. Looking at some sort of attachment to the rear rack, probably velcro straps. I have found some nice potential solutions but they are in the US and getting them would be a pain. Most of the time the lock will just go in my pannier bag but I want the option to carry when I don't have a bag mounted.
Cycling to work should commence next week.

My favorite pannier for the ebike (and we have a few) is the Ortlieb one:
I use the Ortlieb Bikepacker Plus every day on my commute. Well built, waterproof, and an ideal size for me. As an added bonus Ortlieb do an additional anti-theft kit with a thin steel cable so you can lock them to the bike RedWhiteMonkey said:
Bike arrived yesterday! I've unpacked it, done the minor assembly required and charged everything up. Unfortunately a combination of bad weather here and kid duties meant I have ridden it yet, unlikely to happen today either as the weather is rubbish again and I have kid duties again tonight. I want the frist ride to be nice and dry just in case there are any hidden problems and I need to return it (hopefully not).
On the subject of the Cube that I was selling - eventually I got some proper enquiries from a chap from Lincs and despite my blatant scepticism that he was just a time waster he turned up, loved the bike and paid full price.

I feel your pain; Mrs DS new Canyon arrived on Monday and it’s a lovely thing, very chunky. But the rain here in Lancs has been biblical and there’s no sign of let up, so it’s not been out at all.

eBike or not, if you are serious about commuting to work you need to ignore the weather. I can count on one hand the number of days my commute in the last few weeks hasn't been wet or windy, and often both.Cycling to work should commence next week.
Get some waterproofs or a change of cloths at work and it'll be fine. The ride to work is the only one to keep an eye on really, if you can get to work dryish, it really doesn't matter if you are soaked on the way home.

You cut my quote short, missing "I want the frist ride to be nice and dry just in case there are any hidden problems and I need to return it (hopefully not).". I have no issue with riding in the rain I just want the first ride to be nice and dry so that if there are any issues with the bike I am not returning a muddy one. Once I am satisfied that it doesn't need to go back a bit of rain isn't going to stop me.
Neither I nor Mrs DS want to go out in this right now - we don't use our bikes except for leisure and for the last couple of weeks and for the forseeable it's not just been raining, it's an absolute deluge. Hateful Pennines weather.Dog Star said:

How did you manage the actual sale? I assume he would want a test ride, do you ask for payment upfront first? As a buyer I wouldn't want to do that, but as a seller I definitely would. Curios as to how people mange that side of things when selling bikes.Easternlight said:
Dog star. To save trawling through the thread why did you get ride of the Cube? Was it just to upgrade?
I have one and I'm more than happy with it.
It was Mrs DSs - back in 2018 I bought a matching pair, then upgraded mine to a Haibike SDURO Fullnine 5.0 in 2019 (I’ll be selling that when it comes back from a warranty job) and then got a Canyon Spectral :On in April. I have one and I'm more than happy with it.
She was getting a bit left behind with battery capacity and the Cube was only 50nm motor. Excellent bike though, never ever went wrong, looked smart. Also wanted to upgrade to something a bit beefier.
Thanks for that. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would pick holes in the Cube, but I'm pretty happy with mine as a casual cyclist.
May be could do with better forks, but I'm not into it enough to go messing with it.
Bought mine last year and I think it's 65nm.
I think I was lucky really, as the the main reason I chose it was it was the only Bosch powerd e bike I could find in my price range that was availiable

So, the Missus bought me a dropper post for my birthday and I have installed it on my Cube Stereo Hybrid. Wow, it is one of those things that you don't realise you need until you get one! It's absolutely brilliant; so easy to put the saddle down when going down steep hills, and so easy to raise the saddle right up when going uphill. I really wouldn't want a bike without one now.
For anyone who is interested it is an X-Fusion Manic dropper. It was £179 I believe.

I agree. I would put it on a par with brake discs and x1 in terms of MTB innovation. Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
