How waterproof are the mid-mount Bosch units? I was out for a couple of hours yesterday, encountered a few unavoidable large puddle which I had to ride through, which I did slowly (I've got plenty of the "Go fast through puddles which turn out to be much deeper than expected" t-shirts ). I don't think the drive ever got swamped, it was enough to get my feet a bit wet at the bottom of the stroke but there would have been water splashed up.
Anyway, on the way home I definitely felt like the motor was giving less than usual. Haven't had a chance to try it today yet, but was just pondering whether they're prone to water damage at all, in general use?
Soaked mine a few times, not had any issues so far touch wood. Anyway, on the way home I definitely felt like the motor was giving less than usual. Haven't had a chance to try it today yet, but was just pondering whether they're prone to water damage at all, in general use?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5fj50MvhdsShouldn't be any problem a quick splash through a deep puddle. I did see or read somewhere also that I think it was the Bosch motor was the only one to have "O" seals on each end of the driveshaft.
I think they do also have an IP rating, so might be worth checking out what that rating is, and what level of protection that gives the motor. (Will post if I can find it)
- Bosch motors are apparently rated at IP54 - Which means limited dust protection, and protected from water spray from any direction.

80 miles from new on the haibike all mtn 3.0.
Offftttt
On another note, tredz returned the cube acid back on Thursday, they updated the firmware and put the cutting out to a "glitch".
It's been fine for the last 2 days or so cycling to work.
The difference between the Bosch performance line motor (65nm) and the Bosch performance line CX (85nm) is staggering, cx is alot noiser also.

How in gods name have you managed to kill a set of pads in 80 miles? We’re they all downhill riding the brakes or something? My bogo shimano ones tend to last 500 miles minimum and that’s on a hefty old clod of a 25kg home build.
I have no idea! Some chatter on the haibike forum about them being mineral pads.
Heavy mud and snow use, but yeah, 80 miles. (Ish)

No issues with a CX after ‘paddling’ through this for approx 1/4 mile yesterday.

These look immense fun, more of a moped than a mtb, but solid value compared with main brands

Frey bike, has anyone had a go of one?
Just ordered the EX to upgrade from my Cannondale Cujo, reviews are pretty impressive, love the idea of a thumb throttle so i can stand up and let the blood flow back to bits every 1/2hrhttps://youtu.be/ZRGT1SAH1Es

The Bafang unit is hands above even the 120nm TQ unit at 160nm, twin battery pack but you can go out with one if needs be.

Ive gone for the 1000EX in bronze, did look and and test the sur-ron & Bultaco Brinco against the 120nm haibike to get a feel of power wanted, 120nm haibike just not quite enough and the others too much so i think 160nm will be the sweet spot, the gear set, brakes, shocks, forks etc on the Frey are very good quality for the money, looks cool in the bronze to:
