Anyone doing the Tour de France Fantasy League?
Discussion
I did well with Gaviria (excluding his DQ) but spoiled that with an overpriced Boassen Hagan and a wasted spend on a 'bargain' Cavendish. One rider change is pretty restrictive with such a dramatic change in parcours after today. Should be interesting to watch the standings rebalance.
I lost one of my climbers (Sanchez) so have had to make a swap, not sure I've gone the right way but we'll see!
Only 3 sprinter stages left now, so I've had most of my money's worth out of my team (Gaviria and Groenewagon).
Some of the TT'ers are good value but there's only one of those to score big on.
Looks like it's only 1 change for the whole tour aswel, just you can use it on either rest day, bit harsh as there are bound to be more retirees by next rest day.

I front loaded the flat stages at the beginning, taking the view that the protagonists in the sprint stages are more predictable and reliable due to full teams at the beginning, no time gaps being permitted for breakaways and no abandons. Got lucky with choices of Sagan, who had a chance on every stage bar the TTT, Groenewegen, Gaviria and Degenkolb who were thereabouts in all sprint stages.
The coming mountain stages are less predictable, in terms of stage winners because breakaways are given time to go once riders aren't a GC threat, then there is a chance your GC rider has already crashed out before the inclines start and once into the mountains if your rider blows up there isn't much liklihood of scoring points thereafter. In the sprints the riders tend to bounce back, except for Cavendish who sadly appears to have gone at the game.
I've swopped out Groenewegen for a rider better suited the mountains and has a chance of getting the polka dot jersey.
Now I have two leaders who could feature well and three climbers for stage wins without a leader to protect.
In terms of strategy, unless i've misread this there is another change permitted on next rest day and looking at the points structure i've got a plan in place for that too.

Throughout the race, you will have the opportunity to make a change in your team only 2 times. On the 2 rest days planned during the Tour de France 2018 (16 and 23 July), you will be awarded with 1 change to allow you to replace one of your chosen riders with a new cyclist.
and for later in the race be sure to check:Fantasy Le Tour said:
** Warning :
1/ The above "Bonus" points will be multiplied by 5 on stage 21, the last stage of the Tour de France 2018.
2/ None of these "Bonus" points will be doubled for your Road Captain at each stage
One rider i wish I had in my team now is Nibali, quietly gone about the first week. 1/ The above "Bonus" points will be multiplied by 5 on stage 21, the last stage of the Tour de France 2018.
2/ None of these "Bonus" points will be doubled for your Road Captain at each stage
Interesting day losing some sprinters on the time cutoff yesterday, will be interesting to see who doesn't make it today.
After the rest day, two further mountain stages stage 16, 218km then stage 17 a 65km 'sprint' mountain stage with 16km @ 8% could seriously reduce the numbers for the Champs-Élysées. Certainly helps my team points as I was more GC focussed.

Another good day to have G as my road captain. He’s on fire!
My captaincy picks have been off - Froome each day. On the plus side, having G, Froome and Dumoulin has meant three good days and hopefully GC points rolling in for each day going forwards.Rest day sub worked well for me. Although Tony Martin was the obvious guy to replace (out of the tour), I opted to replace Kittel with G instead. Kittel now eliminated, so doubly glad that i did that.
I'll start a new thread now for the 2019 Giro https://www.velogames.com/ is up
