I've found some bits that I bought and fitted to my '86 Dyno Compe as part of a makeover that I did in about '95. I changed it back to '86 style a few years ago and these were left in the garage after selling the Peregrine semi pro 48s and strut bars. They are well used but if anyone wants anything for the price of postage let me know.
The crank is a Diamond Back stamped and logo'd CW175 and gyro is a gen1 which does have a top plate but need to have another dig in the box. I also have a pair of silver alloy mongoose branded 1/2 inch platform pedals not in the pic.

Perfect timing, hopefully!

I’m in the process of getting this wreck back up to it’s former glory - I’m guessing most parts would be transferable? 1996/7 performer?

Looking forward to seeing the finished product! Presumably all those chrome bits are destined for a dip at the platers at some point?

Is there a go to bike site or forum ??
RADBMX old school BMX forum could be worth a look, and they also have a facebook page of the same name. wink
Alans BMX shop sells complete NOS old school bikes, but no Skyways on there at the moment.
Look for 'We Were RAD Book submission group' on Facebook. Daily photos of old skool BMX, it's a proper rabbit hole.
That's my group smile
Myself and the other guys were sorting through images yesterday. All the text is typed up and we are hoping to launch the book around Christmas or just after depending how the covid situation pans out

I’m still undecided as to the best way forward for forks and bars, in price order:

Powdercoat black
Replace with used/new
Paint to match frame
Rechrome

If I go too nuts it’ll end up being cheaper to buy one restored, but it’s harder to justify the costs on ‘a’ bike rather than ‘my’ bike. I also want to ride it, only pump track with daughter type stuff, but I’d hate to overspend and then not want to use it.

Either way, updates can definitely follow (unless it’s too new for this thread!)

If you've got $775 (+import duty and shipping) burning a hole in your pocket Bob has just released a 40th Anniversary frame & forks set:

Or are you after an 80s original?

Somewhere like the RADBMX facebook group has got to be a good starting point, how much you want to ride 'v' look at it is the next question, if you actually want to ride it one of the recent Lineage Masters is a better bet, 90% of the looks but a bike that an adult can actually ride and have fun on. wink

I've got one sat in a box right next to me in my home office! My brother lives in the Channel Islands, in the melee to buy one he was worried about not being able to deliver over there so he had it sent to me instead, I've now for to ParcelForce it over to him.

Annoyingly ParcelForce's max length they will take is 160cm and the box is 162cm! I need to do a cut and shut on the packaging.

Loving your dice dust caps btw, they were epic back in the day. I had a Mag Burner (Simplex 7 spokes as opposed to Skyways) which were a risible alternative.
