Sounds about right. I just got on with my own ride ( as far as I could ). I only had a couple of incidences of people chopping me bad enough for me to have to take evasive action, which isn’t too bad considering the event, the shear number of riders, and the range of experience / ability.

I can only echo the comments on the 46, as I enjoyed it. The run out to Chiswick was a fast ride, and I held a much higher pace than normal throughout (usually out towards the right), and lifting my pace a bit for the run in from Wimbledon to the end. The A12 and Limehouse sections were a highlight, as it's about the only time you can cycle through those, as was the blast down through Putney as that's normally snarled up. I'd thought anything under three hours would be OK, but the faster pace saw me finish in 2:33 without a stop. That gantry at the end though..wasn't even sure I'd finished...

I've also entered the 100 ballot this time round, as although I thought I wouldn't have a hope of completing it last year as I didn't see any hope in being fit anywhere near fit enough when last year's ballot closed, although the most recent rides I'd done included the Leith or Box Hill, so expect I would have got round this year. Wouldn't complain if I did end up doing the 46 again though.

Also caught my first sight of a PH cycling jersey in the wild, and could be tempted if there was another run of those produced..
I too did the 46 and I was wearing a PH cycling jersey so it might have been me you saw (it was the bright red/orangey looking version of the top). What sort of time did you set off at? Also, a few people spoke to me about the top so if you were one of them then hi again!
Set off at 09:28 (very last wave) and we may have spoken at the finish if you were there collecting a medal just after 12pm - think you may have passed me on the road at some point as well. Was in a comparatively boring black Continental jersey..was good to finally see a PH jersey since I'd seen mention of them.

Name and Shame!

I was looking at various people I'm aware of times. One guy claimed 4h30 last year. Seemed plausible. He's forever posting pics of his bikes with various Strava screenshots.

Only when you look at this splits. He has basically come out of Richmond Park, turned left and gone back into Raynes Park and run over the timing mat at 87 miles half an hour after entering the park!

Of course he then wobbled home very slowly and took a 100mile medal which he paraded on various sites. I did think maybe serious mechanical. But he's clearly riding down the Mall in the few official pics. He's just another lazy who wants the glory for none of the work! rolleyes

It genuinely sickens me! So anyone short cutting the course should be outed and banned for life.
‘Relive’ never lies. Just ask anyone you care to, who’s used Strava, to supply their relive thing.

One of the groups I tagged onto had a guy in 2nd wheel on flat bars sitting bolt upright. He was going well but that was when I decided I can shift along faster and exited the group biggrin

That's the group I was in too. I finished in just under two hours but waited after the finish line for my wife who finished just before 12pm so the timings would work out perfectly and I do remember talking to you. smile You didn't give away you on were on here though! smile

I was in the same wave as you two, in fact, I was standing behind you Scott W as I noticed your PH jersey. I did it in 2h 22mins (moving) and finished just after 12:30pm having taken a break for some more water at Kingston on the way back in.

There were a few people pirating the course. I was spectating at Wimbledon Hill and several went past. Including one guy on a full TT bike. Stood out like a sore thumb

Oh I know. But I don't think I need to judging from how "unlucky" he was to have a misreading timing chip!

I just have a bee in my bonnet about blaggers! Especially when they pose proudly with their medal, alongside (those who they are supposed to have respect for!) who have gone slower but finished the ride legitimately!

If I heard there was congestion up Leith to the point everyone is walking or it's blocked I'd definitely take the Tanhurst shortcut but that road would be ridiculous if lots of riders did it. It's not a race so who really cares if someone takes a shortcut? Just leave them to it.
Where do you draw the line on what you think is acceptable? Changing the course wherever you fancy? Or only on 1 hill?

Ultimately it just agitates the locals. And then the event gets diverted, shortened or cancelled.

All because some people are "more important the others" rolleyes

I made it onto the BBC coverage at the finish line too... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0007f75/cyc...

47:21 to 47:27, stuffing a chocolate/hazelnut croissant into my fat face as Fabian Cancellara was interviewed.

Sadly the croissant was a little stale at the ends. I'd bought it the night before, and it had been swinging in a bag from my handlebar, out "in the wind" for over 100 miles. It got so many comments on the way around though.

Glad I'm not the only one, do people really think that this day and age they can blatantly lie and get away with it??

One of the funniest I've seen was someone on ToC; in the ride description they said "a race of 2 halves, started off well averaging 19.5mph for the first half , then pop and adductor muscle so limped home".

errrrmmm do they forget that if someone can read the description then they can also see their ride and more importantly analysis which for their 5 mile laps read; 17.7, 16.3, 16.8, 19.6, 18.5, I guess this is where their "adductor popped" as then it dropped to 14.8, 13.8, 15.7!!

Doing the Richmond Park thing above is quite frankly the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. I know that I cycle more than most, but riding 100 miles and getting a medal is something almost anyone able bodied could do, it is not really worth talking about, cheating to do so? fking hell, I'd want to be seeing a shrink if I was doing that sort of thing, there is something mentally questionable about that behaviour.

Has a sock Strava account been made to post that image underneath their ride comments?

hehe

Weirdly, my wife is more proud of my finisher's medal than I am. I was going to sling it in a box with the rest of that sort of thing - Festive 500 patches, race finisher's medals from Battle On The Beach, etc. But she wants to put it "on display" somewhere. I don't mind pinning race/event numbers to the rafters in the garage, but I've never had the desire to hang finisher's medals on the walls. As for claiming one without having completed the event? Why? I don't get it either...

You may mock in haste

http://results.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/2013/?co...

But he did ride 100 miles! 8.04.27 in 2013

And hes lost a ton of weight since then. So far play to him.

WRT the cheat I mentioned from the 2018 event. I've contacted RideLondon to see what the procedure is for DQing and banning the individual for life from the event. biggrin

I fear it wont make any difference and they wont take any action.

Someone more clever than me has put everyone in order of finish time.

Not perfect, since everyone starts at different times. But interesting.
