Someone more clever than me has put everyone in order of finish time.

Not perfect, since everyone starts at different times. But interesting.
That just needs sorting by column E

That's really cool. Did you make it? Thanks for sharing either way.

My group riding efficiency was terrible I think - not a red number but a very light red number, almost white. Couldn't find any groups that weren't going 2-3mph slower until 130-150km when picked up the odd guy here and there. Happy to have ridden a time that is similar to those with very high group riding efficiency.

Is it possible to change the speed/splits to not compare with the median rider but the fastest riders? My time was just under 20 mins down so would be interesting to see.

Well clearly the first 10 names on that list short cutted!

Given most went no further than Timing Point 27 they probably went straight after Hampton Bridge and not right! rolleyes

It's also not quite right... People are down as "100 miles" who didn't.

What's most annoying about the short cutters isn't that they've cheated vs everyone else it's that they have taken places away from people (like me) that really wanted to do the London 100 and give it a good shot but didn't get through the ballot.

Can't access the doc at work, but i did the full course and my ride shows as less than 100 miles, 99.35 IIRC...

It’s one (of many) reasons, why it’s not worth stressing over ‘getting a time’. I’ve done all but a couple of PRLS 100s, and I just enjoy being able to get through London as quickly as is possible with this route, and it’s closed roads. The hills are much nicer with closed roads as well.

The Eastway and Limehouse Link tunnels usually cause the route to come up short, if you use something like a Garmin, to record your ride. The finish Gantry was short of where it used to be as well.

Well that and that anyones time is not even remotely correlated to their ability.

Do I think I'm a better bike rider than Yanto Barker? No. I did a faster time though ;-)

My Garmin came up with almost exactly 99 miles. Timer started in the start pen (well back from the timing mat) and stopped a few hundred metres beyond the finish gantry. A few people suggested this was down mainly to them moving the finish gantry, and the fact that Admiralty Arch wasn't included on the route this time.

But hey? "Whatever" right? Because I rode the course that was marked, and any discrepancy in the distance is negligible. As for times? I wasn't "going for a time", but just out to make the most of the opportunity to ride on closed roads and enjoy the day. I was dreading it beforehand, but relaxed into the atmosphere soon enough. Plenty of folk out there kidding themselves though. One said (on Strava) that "I wanted to get around sub-5 hours, and managed it (just). Well he was right, if you only count moving time, but he's crowing about a sub 5 hour 100 miles, and all the while his chip time (and Strava elapsed time) shows another 44 minutes to add for food/water/toilet stops. By that logic I could trim another 20 minutes from my time (at least) but what's the point in kidding yourself? Chip time should be all that counts really, and even then it doesn't count for much because (altogether now!) "It's Not A Bleedin' Race, People..." wink

A bit late to add this but managed a pretty decent time of 4 hrs and 9 mins (non-stop) biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Could have been faster if our 25 man 'group' worked together instead of only 8 of us pulling the train.

Beat my time from last year (4hrs 27mins) and by almost 1 hr on my first attempt in 2016 (5hrs 5min)

Was a good day!

First bit

Don't know why people don't contribute to making a group work. At the sorts of time you did. Suggests more than just the odd ride. So surely they realise that if they share the worl they all get faster??

Second bit

It was a fast day. Everyone I followed PBd by a margin

Perhaps these people are literally just hanging on and some time in the wind will see them spat. I find it similarly funny but I have a bit of fun with it and increase the pace gradually to rid the guys hanging on, a gradient helps. Usually the cream of the crop of the group will come with you and then those guys are stuck in the wind and actually have to do some work! Maybe I'm a bit harsh.

I;m not at the pointy end.

But surely just doing your turn*, even if its not for very long, would engender more respect.

*Even I know that the idea on your turn is not to smash it so you drop people, but just maintain the pace.

Why so? I set a PB as well, what was it that made it so quick. Lack of wind, not too warm?
