Ok, last new bike for a while - until I find a Bianchi L’una.
My first trials ride in 20 years. I am rusty and old. 24” is a game changer though - I wish I’d had one of these when I was in my teens!
This is a cheapy, bought from fb marketplace. There’s actually quite a big trials scene in HK which isn’t surprising given the street furniture available.
Here it is next to a very nonplussed local water buffalo “Ong Tsai” who sleeps on this raised planter every night.
How does rail sliding street furniture go down with the Chinese overlords ?My first trials ride in 20 years. I am rusty and old. 24” is a game changer though - I wish I’d had one of these when I was in my teens!

That is a trials bike, not a BMX. Much hopping, not much sliding Edited by keith2.2 on Saturday 9th July 13:25
New bike day!
I fancied a modern hardtail after upgrading from my 26” onone to a modern full suspension bike.
I had a Commencal Meta HT AM on order since February due to be delivered in June but due to supply issues that was push until October.
Cycle to work scheme came back in so I stared looking around
Found the Stif Squatch and they did c2w and that was that!
C2W meant I could get the Pro version too; because man maths.

The Stif frames look really nice, I looked at Morf. The chainstays are beautiful.I fancied a modern hardtail after upgrading from my 26” onone to a modern full suspension bike.

The Izzo comp has had a bit of a refresh ahead of autumn and winter riding ... rear wheel bearings, forks (SID ultimate with 120mm), carbon pedals, chain, AXS rear mech (broke the last one ), chain, brake discs and tyres. Only original parts are frame, saddle, brake levers and brake calipers
But its a lighter, faster and more agile bike which I still love riding.

Nice effort - very similar to what happened to my bike a few months ago and I also only have frame, bars, brake system, gear lever, and shocks as original. It's a 2018 Norco Sight A9.But its a lighter, faster and more agile bike which I still love riding.

Nostalgia got the better of me….there’s a back story if anyone is interested, but one owner from new, everything is original including the tyres….
A bit of patina, but it’s been well cared for…
What's the story with the tyres... A bit of patina, but it’s been well cared for…
I now suddenly have a hankering for some farmer John's nephews.

Back in ‘92 when Boardman won his gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics, Lotus decided to capitalise on the publicity and launched a range of bikes built in conjunction with British Eagle.
The MTBs consisted of a range of 3-4 models all built from the same frame, the only difference being group sets (STX, LX and XT/XTR).
This was 1993. Limited numbers made of each, 100-150 worldwide.
IIRC they were priced at a premium level, comparable to the Orange Clockwork I bought (£750).
As an employee I had the option to buy one, but decided to go fruit coloured instead!
Fast forward to last week, I saw an article on FB about the Lotus 110 road bike and went looking to see how much they are selling for now on eBay and noticed this example not far away, for a very reasonable price.
I’ve also got the original forks too, the RSTs were an upgrade for a not insubstantial on cost.
No idea on the tyres….I think they are rebadged OEMs…..my tyre of choice at the time were Tioga Psycho IIs.
Out and about on my Van Nicholas Amazon yesterday, a nice 15 mile bimble through Oxford. It’s now coming up for 14 years old and it’s still a lovely bike to ride, super smooth 2x10 speed Ultegra SL groupset with Dura ace Brifters, the very dated TRP cantilever brakes are probably the only weak point.
A fortnight old Giant TCX Advanced Pro 1. So far, so very good. It’s a vast improvement over my very tired feeling 2015 Cannondale SuperX. The braking & shifting is superb as a new bike should be. I looked at another Cannondale (the Super Six CX) but was put off by SRAM brakes (don’t like the feel) & the oddball rear offset they use.

So back in the early to mid 90s I worked for Lotus Engineering designing engines for various customers, culmination being the 618 V8 that ended up in the Esprit.

Interesting bit of history... Thanks. And a cool job by the sound of it. Back in ‘92 when Boardman won his gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics, Lotus decided to capitalise on the publicity and launched a range of bikes built in conjunction with British Eagle.
