I like the fact it's running an HS33.

There's only so much you can do when trying to modernise an older bike as I've found with a Turner RFX I've just about finished. Ends up looking a mess when trying to bodge some newer stuff on to it.
Do love a Turner... Had a 5 spot and it was superb. Loved that bike.

Also as much as you love them the short top tubes and steep fork dont really work unless you're using an old xc style bike as a gravel type bike. Modern bikes are a lot more capable offroad.

I'll get some pics this weekend but there are ways around head angles and BB heights, more so with a fully like I've got that's running offset bushes and a Works angleset.

Yeah there's nothing you can do about reach but that's just something you have to accept as part of riding an older bike...

I've decided to have a proper crack at racing again this year (time trialling). To spur me on I decided to build up a new bike. Nothing wrong with my Argon 18 but had a "new bike" itch. So, I built this. Drivetrain from my Argon a mix of Ultrega and Dura Ace Di2, wheels my old disc and a Zipp 808 I picked up for a good price (I'm musing whether to sell my collection of other front wheels as I never did swap about just carried them all to races pointlessly). Super swanky bars were a bit of an indulgence. Frame was bought lightly used with a Ceramicspeed BB and the standard Magura hydraulic brakes. These seem great and are a lot easier to fiddle with than typical TT bike cable brakes.

I have no idea about road bikes, especially TT bikes but that looks like an alien space ship - awesome!

This looks incredibly expensive, I'd be terrified of riding it and crashing!

Thanks gents, well I'm hoping it makes me quicker than I have any right to be and I have been training hard over the past couple of months so the aim of it being a motivator has worked. I doubt it'll be as quick as with the previous owner as he was very fast. I've only so far ridden it up and down the road briefly to check it all works (it does). It does feel lovely and "tight" without any odd rattles etc which is always a nice feeling with bikes.

Yeah I cajoled my old Heckler with offset headset, offset shock mounts etc etc but the original angles and toptube work against you.....totally fine for gentle xc/trail riding ( in fact i have a late 90's hardtail that i LOVE, but anything steep or technical/fast the modern bikes rock.

My MY2023 Pinarello Dogma F with Dura Ace. I got it in December 2022. It’s set up quite aggressively to suit my racing preference but is still a very comfortable, compliant ride.

Very happy so far!

Not a Winter bike however so I’ve got a gravel bike arriving next week for Northern UK Winter use!

No where near as fancy as most of here, but whilst cleaning out the garage I realise am missing something with proper suspension (and I need a proper clean garage smile).

Old school Turner RFX I've been putting together over winter. Not ridden a 26" bike for over 10 years!

And my up to date long, low and slack 29'er Peruvian hardtail...

The pinarello does look good , imo the Ferraris of the bike world and look fast

Where is the first pic taken it looks a way from northern UK!

That's a stunner. I used to have an F10 an it was a wonderful thing, this must be a dream to ride.

Algarve. Great place for Winter cycling!

It feels as quick as my Madone did that I replaced it for but with the climbing feel of an Emonda - so best of both an aero and climbing bike, really.

That looks great. Turners were always so well put together. Which parts did you mean in your earlier post about it ending up being a mess trying to bodge modern parts on?

I've got a few classic 26" dh frames and parts I'm hoping to put together before winter. I'll be using wide bars and clutch mechs but the rest of the parts will be mostly period stuff.

Cheers. My comment was about stuff like adaptors to fit brakes etc and like you see on my bike the fact I'm using a strap for the dropper cable as there's no routing for one.
